The ladder

ADE 13 11 2 0 1445 845 171.01% 44
WCE 14 11 3 0 1382 1204 114.78% 44
COL 13 9 4 0 1439 1164 123.63% 36
MEL 13 9 4 0 1336 1148 116.38% 36
WB 13 9 4 0 1427 1242 114.90% 36
SYD 13 8 5 0 1286 1049 122.59% 32
STK 13 7 6 0 1172 1046 112.05% 28
FRE 14 7 7 0 1175 1313 89.49% 28
RIC 13 7 6 0 1092 1305 83.68% 28
GEE 14 6 8 0 1324 1285 103.04% 24
PTA 13 6 7 0 1265 1354 93.43% 24
BRI 13 5 8 0 1166 1258 92.69% 20
HAW 14 5 9 0 1140 1426 79.94% 20
KAN 13 4 9 0 1080 1315 82.13% 16
CAR 14 2 12 0 1096 1475 74.31% 8
ESS 14 1 13 0 1194 1590 75.09% 4

Over the next five weeks we have

15 Dogs (won't win)
16 Scum (should win but probably won't)
17 Freo (won't win)
18 Dees (won't win)
19 Hawks (could win but probably won't)

Scum has
15 St Kilda (might win but probably won't)
16 us (see above)
17 Lions (may not win)
18 Swans (at the SCG - won't win)
19 Filth (won't win)

If we don't win 16 we get the spoon. The way we're playing, it's a possibility (dependent on percentages, of course).. but again I say, "look to the box" .. don't worry about delisting players (although that's for another string) .. and, no, we can't drop DP coz we're broke and we can't pay out the contract ....

we need that percentage to go back up so that if we do lose to the bummers we'd still stay on top of them.

Unless it is money I just wish they'd play a rookie or two!

You'd want to beat Essendon*, it doesn't matter if we cop pick 2.

in a draft like this, pick 2 is worth the equivalent of a no.1 pick in most other drafts.

I don't care about the ladder

I don't care about the scoreboard

I just hope the kids keep getting senior experience.

what for??...our coach will make them sit on the pine for the best part of 2 to 3 quarters.

The game was over today at half time and he had Blackwell, Russell and Kennedy sitting on the bench for the best part of the second half.

Give us hope and play some kids for goodness sake.

i know and thats more annoying and frustrating than what the scoreboard reads the only thing we've got now is hope for the future and pagan is ednying us that by persisting with players who have no future at our club i.e.mclaren, sporn, bannister.

and when he does play them he plays them out of position. kennedy is a natural CHF but pagan insists on him playing on the wing or around the flanks. he could have utilised him a lot better today esp. when fevola had to contend with 3 players at once, he could have put kennedy in the forward line and kick it to him one-on-one with his opponenet and he would have murdered harley.

We are a work in progress.Playing kids means losses and bad ones .Thats life in modern footy. What I want to see is Whitnall up forward leading up the ground,Kennedy down back with O"Hailpin so we have something to kick to .We fell down badly in this area today. But be patient.

What's ahead? I'm not sure if it get's any better than this in 2006. On todays form we'll lose to Essendon* and IMHO would should just play for 2007. We MUST elevate a Rookie and find out if Chris Bryan really is a player or not.

Prendergast and Livingston are gone and we should move on. Sporn should be played (put him on a wing and let him gather possessions) so we can trade this bastard come years end. We need to pump up his value to an Adelaide/Port Adelaide as much as possible.

Sorry for the tone but I'm pretty steamed still after today.

Special mention to Lance, at least he got into the team a bit at huddles and kept them out there afterwards to hammer home some points.

and finally....

turnover after turnover after turnover...is this the actual game plan because if it is we're champions.

I don't know who's looking after skills but they're disastrous STILL! We cannot hit targets even when NOT under pressure.

Now we know why we're playing him!

But I think we tried to get Adelaide interested in him last year without success.

We'll struggle to get West Adelaide interested in him.

Carltons list aint that bad. We should of beaten WCE in perth. When they were playing to the game plan.

todays game was the worst i ever seen. No confidence, no gameplan, no talk with players, wrong decisions, playing defensively.

Amazing how many times Carlton have two players going for a mark, kicking the ball to the wing rather then corridor, chipping it around the back line, slowing down play instead of moving fast, clogging up Fevs lead, handballing to 2 teammates 1mtr from eachother.

I think it all starts with the coaching staff, there is no way they were playing to a gameplan today.
Even if we get gun rookies next year they wont do anything with the coaching staff we have out at Carlton.Only so long players can listen to the same cr$p from the coach.

...what's ahead?

The kids took another step today, and they will learn something from this game, as they did in the last, as they will in the next.

When it sinks in, and they apply what they've learned, they will be great players to watch. They will be stronger, fiiter and wiser.

I had my doubts about some of the kids on the field today, but these kids,(and there's more than we have ever seen in our life time), Russell, Kennedy (that 1 on 1 overhead mark today was GOLD!), Blackwell (Lions game), Setanta (Looked like a footballer), Betts (amazing closing speed), Bentick (tough footballer) and Carazzo (acumulator) show a bit of character, and that's what this experience is giving them more of. The other 'older' kids in Simpson (brilliant), Walker (strong & fast), Thornton (solid defender with poise) have proven they've stepped up, and the younger ones will too, and that's a whole lot of potential.

Other young players to miss out on today through injury, (who would have played), include Murphy Waite and Fisher, and maybe Hartlett and Bower would have been given an opportunity by now.

That's 14 names there. These kids will play better and learn more over the next 2 months, followed by an 'big' preseason, (call it 'line in the sand' stuff) and we might not be getting early (1-5) draft picks next year. Add 4 more quality drafts this year and say 2 next year, and we're on our way.

Who knows? We could be adding Flint, Jackson and Smith to that group. Raso and Edwards may take big steps in 2007.

Don't worry if we don't win, just look for the signs; passages of play, little 1%'ers. miraculous effort, smart decsion, tough clash, good kick, great shepherd....and then you'll realise, that what's coming is gonna be really BIG.

Our field kicking is deplorable - time after time when we kick we kick far too high allowing the opposition defenders the easiest of opportunities to spoil.

Crumbing ability - we do not have any players who can read a ball off the pack - I have never seen a team pick up so many crumbs off the pack (on the full) like Geelong did today - they killed us in that department.

Carazzo goal of the year and miss of the year in one game - so damn frustrating. :x
