realistically Jackson is the only one really worth promoting at the moment. Flint perhaps if he continues his good form, but Batson really isnt up to the grade..Could you imagine Batson against a Jeff White etc.

Nearly as embarrasing as watching French and McLaren against King and Ottens at the weekend.

I think Jackson and Smith would be the first two promoted. Jackson as he appears capable of playing a running role up forward down back or on ball and Smith who may help win the clearances ain a rotating role with Bentick. Only draw back that I can think of for Smith is his pace and whether or not we can have both he and Bentick in the same side.

Flint does not have the height for a key position same as Thornton. He also seeems to have lost form of late if the Bullant reports are correct. May be the back pocket or half back flanker we need but not the key post. IMO key position players need to be 192cm plus and just by changing the height in the football record doesn't make a player grow 4cms.

Hasn't lost form....has suffered some heavy knocks in recent games...last weekend very early on. Shook him up, but got up and did the job. Ran free and would have kicked a goal except for the damn goalpost jumping up and getting in the way.:P

Mitch was very pleased with his game.

Thought I read somewhere here that Flint was over 190cm now (?).

if jackson's the fast one i think this'd be the best opportunity for us to promote him against the bulldogs.

Doesn't sound like it will happen this week.

bullshit!

I don't understand this attitude - I mean just what are we playing for this year? Surely the main objective for us as a club now is list development/management. Play the kids and see what we've got. I mean the club must have a good idea of who they will delist, then do not play those players again this year!

I think he is saving the promotion for the Bryce Gibbs Cup. Jackson and Flint should be promoted in that order. Still think it should be done this week. I'm losing my passion at games now. Not much to look forward too when you see the same duds playing and making the same mistakes week in week out.

Agree to a point, Dannyboy, but maybe Denis just wants to see how they all react to the extra pressure.

As long as they all get a run anyway, it won't matter in the end. If they don't then I'll be annoyed.

What is he talking about? Is he saying that Murphy, Kennedy and Blackwell have floundered this year? Is he saying that other CLubs have struggled with their young recruits....

well the Demons have done admirably well with bate, Bartram and Dunn. Hmm, the Crow's Knights is OK but Vince is pretty poor... yes I see what Pagan means.

Maybe its just our recruits or those under his tutelage in the past?

I was disgusted with this article. Given our financial and list position, the Club has no choice but to throw some of the kids in to show something. Espeically the rookies. If they fail, or dont show antyhing, then so be it, but the Club does not need to grant yet another last chance to any one of Longmuir, Chambers, Teague, Sporn, Prendergast. The Club owes it to its history, its playing list - that surely must start to be dismantled, again - and the fans / members to follow through on this.

Is 2006 about development or scratching our arse?

We don't know the full story so it is hard to tell but just possibly we can't afford to promote any of the rookies until after we get the guarantee from the AFL in writing. If as hinted we need the money to survive until the end of the year then perhaps we don't have the surplus for an unbudgetted $20-60,000 to promote 3 rookies.

In the meantime the coach has to put a brave face on it and give some excuse to the supporters. Don't need another bad story about the Blues.

Keeps saying we can't give up on them. He sounds like he's worried some other club will pick them up & turn them into champions.
