Please try and settle a dispute that came up last night over some beers.

Everyone knows David Gallagher was no good.... but what was his major weakness?

I've always been a firm believer that not being named Courtney Johns was a real hinderance for him.

I tended to think he was a bit of an all-rounder like Sam Cranage, deficient in:

- Pace
- Strength
- Skills

But otherwise OK.

His one and only asset was his hair. It was very long.

And there I was thinking we actually swapped Kris Massie for some Adelaide guy with a hypenated surname.

Andrew Eccles-Gallagher wasn't it?

Eccles was the slow one! He was slow and could kick...

Gallagher played back pocket! He had speed but couldn't kick...

Never!

Gallagher was the slowest back pocket ever to play for Carlton... and thats including a near crippled 33 year old Dean Rice

I think his biggest weakness is that his old man didn't leave him on the sheets ....

I have him down as slightly better than Eccles because at least he had a little bit of toe about him. But that's like being the second prettiest woman in Iraq when you think about it.

What sort of a crap thread is this?

Gallagher was really tough, not very skilled and therefore as good as half our current list. He had few chances when several at his level have had many chnaces to not prove themselves. He didn't get paid much, was only there a year and was about a 1000 times better at footy than everyone on TC. Apologies of course to all those many TCers who have been on AFL lists.

sorry.. I forgot that making him better at footy than me made me ineligible to discuss if he was quick or not.

Ben Nelson was quick at least.

Played all his games when we were successful
