If we really want to lose our club then just give em the keys.

Sydney. Pfft. You should see what they've done in Melbourne.

Geez, even Jeff wants an assist…

Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett said it was the sole right of the AFL to determine the strings that would be attached to the package.

Does the club constitution allow this?
Does the AFL have the power to overrule the clubs constitution?

he also said that any measure should be done properly - ie get us out of the financial position rather than here's 1.5mill to tide u over for the rest of the year and please come again next season...

Maybe next season the AFL will want another seat on the board for the financial assistance...

Not sure why a loan constitutes an AFL representative sitting on the board.

Having said that, does that mean, that we, the members, get to vote who that person will be?

"Paging Mike Fitzpatrick, Mr Fitzpatrick there is a call for you from an old friend".

He tells me he is a Carlton supporter.

The benefactor is Mathieson.

The AFL is right in what its demanding. Carlton has the means to improve its predicament. If it wants money like everyone else it shouldnt come for nothing.

Noone owes this board anything. They have to sweat their arses to get out of this.

A meeting will be held by the board tonight.
Some will be pushing for members of the board to make a meaningful contribution so we are not humiliated any longer..

Surely someone apart from Mathieson can put his hand in his pocket??

If the duds on the board make a 'strategic' contribution at this time and put themselves up as saviours & heroes then we'll be never rid of them. :?

I reckon we tell em to get [REDACTED]! :-D

I'M SERIOUS TOO!

I reckon we start the Carlton Supporters Union, phone Mr.DickFace (Andrew Demetriou) and tell him to shove it up his bum bum!

Think about it.........................We as supporters can come up with $1.5million in donations EASY!

We have 29,000 Members. A tiny donation of just $51.73 each will cover that $1.5million that the AFL are offering!

But apart from that...........................did anybody else find this quote interesting?

The AFL has said it would attach strict criteria to the assistance and is mindful at least one Carlton benefactor is preparing to commit significant cash in the next 12 months.

Is the AFL loan definitely $1.5m?

Because if it is, I am gobsmacked that they have the cheek to ask to sit on the board.

Couldn't the benefactor guarantee the loan and thereby avoid, Demetrispew and his sycophants getting their hands on our club?

Maybe someone should check the Club constitution as to whether a board member can be installed in this manner, and if installed if they are immune to being removed by a vote of members..

I'd be interested to know....

If we're not elligible for assistance why do we need it?

Have you been living in a cave?

He's got a fair question.

We don't qualify under the requirements for the fund, so no matter how much we think otherwise, the AFL deems that the reason we're going down the crapper is due to mismanagement, which is partly true.

Thus any financial assistance comes with strings attached, otherwise it sets an unfair preceedent for the clubs who receive financial assistance due to circumstances virtually beyond their control.
