He made a couple of errors early in the second quarter after having a decent first term. The playing on after marking was nothing really. Doubt that will happen again unless he's in plenty of space. The kick into the man looked like he was being too careful in getting a good kick away. Neither worried me much, as for the rest of the game he played well, was evasive at times, switched play to effect, and probably beat his man, whoever that was.

For someone who's played less than ten games, whilst it wasn't the perfect performance, it was by no means a shocker either.

......Implying that Round was not a graceful footballer, methinks.

[quote="gerry atric"]Where have Beano and Kevin Bohane got to. They stuck up for Santy when impatient supporters started the obligatory premature bagging and now when their boy is just starting to roll they've disappeared.quote]

Guess who's back, back again, Beano's back, tell a friend.
Word up folks. Beanos back in town, was away on holidays and has taken me the last week to read through the posts that i missed and match reports.

So Santy's come back.
I hate, HATE, gloating

but

I told you so

And Ninja, as always, you are the man, if anyone has a copy of the Blues game from the weekend and could pass it ti the ninja man both Seán Óg and I would really appreciate it. By the way Cork are in the All Ireland semi's, they could be on for a historic three in a row. FIngers crossed.

Followed the link to Bomber Blitz & was amused by their comments re Setanta's skills being less than their star key position youngsters such as Laycock, Bolton & Bradley. Pretty hard to dispute their claims because unless you've been to Windy Hill to watch them train you wouldn't have had the chance to see them touch the footy. For all we know Bolton could kick precision passes over 80m with either foot, but as he rarely gets a kick, we'll probablly never know. At least Setanta's skills both good & bad are on display, and can be developed under match conditions.

They must have missed Bolton's brilliant kick into Walker's smother in the last quarter.

I think what is overlooked with Setanta is his disposal by hand...good technique and hits targets over a distance....his kicking will only improve...Earl Spalding was no stylist but a very effective player and I put Setanta in the same category....the Bomber Blitz crew need a reality check., they must be taking the same lollies that Gardiner and Cousins are selling ..

Spot on Elwood.

His handpassing is very impressive.

A lot of people forget that he was injured for most of his first year (in 2004) and hence has had only around 2.5 years experience playing/learning the game. It is all onwards and upwards from here.

His last two weeks have been extremely impressive.
He might just suprise me and make it sooner than I thought and in a different position than I thought. :-D

Agree Surrey,he ran to the correct places a number of times, but was not rewarded for his efforts,I know we see it every week(and not just CFC)whereas an under-estabilished player is ignored by some regular players due to a lack of confidence with the new guy.To do so of course means the team is effectively playing one man short.

This tendency by teams gives me the absolute shits where the senior members of the team ignore the junior members of a team even when they are in better positions.

It works in reverse where senior players demand the ball off junior players - especially when they are chasing cheap handball receives off the half back line - not looking at any ex-Carlton players playing for Essendon* hey Campo.

Sounds very familiar....be it country, metro or AFL. Has been happening as long as I can remember, particularly when mates were playing as teenagers in senior teams.

He will make mistakes we all know that, but he will develop as a really good backman and in a few years when the game is much more natural to him he could also play CHF at times depending on our structure. In two weeks he has improved from a return to the Ants for most of the season, to what should be a certain starter for the rest of the year. Lets hope we can get at least one more win for him and Blackers and Russell and anyone else who has only been in losing sides. Pity Sean Og isn't a few years younger.

Don't worry GA were still around . Can only pop in for short spells lately as am working full time job and training with our senior footballers who are in 1/4 final of cork county. On a + note did get to listen to good bit of match in work on sat doh as boss is bombers fan  . Glad people are starting to come around slowly but surely i wouldn't give a crap what BB :garthp: thinks about him. As you said he will make mistakes but with more gametime/ proper coaching they will disappear hopefully. One thing you will get from him evertime is 100% commitment and effort which will make up for other flaws. Heres hoping Pagan persists with him for the rest of the year :-D

BB is bizarro world where Henneman is good and Setanta is bad... just swap it over and that's about right...

Agree guys, Kennedy, Walker & Blackwell get ignored continuously and it frustrates to no end, especially Kennedy being a forward who can hurt the opposition on the scoreboard.

I've been pondering since last night about how Murphy stepped straight in and never has been ignored. I guess he is a class above most other early career players.

It will come for O'hAilpin, soon I reckon.

If Eade was our coach rather than Denis, the only difference would be is that there would be a SackRodney.com.

It's Pagan's fault our players haven't been nominated now
