I don't there is much chance that Bryce will be drafted to West Perth...

I am not sure about the brownlow, but Holland won the Norwich Rising Star from Camporeale missing half the season with a shoulder reconstruction.

Yep.

A running joke from last year.

He'll have to break the trend which has been evident over the last ten years. But given Holland's 15 games in 1995, it shouldn't be impossible for Murphy to win. And Camporeale was by far more of a rising star in 1995.

1993 N Buckley (20 games)
1994 C Scott (19 games)
1995 N Holland (15 games)
1996 B Cousins (20 games)
1997 M Wilson (22 games)
1998 B Pickett (25 games)
1999 A Goodes (20 games)
2000 P Hasleby (21 games)
2001 J Koschitzke (20 games)
2002 N Riewoldt (22 games)
2003 S Mitchell (21 games)
2004 J Rivers (22 games)
2005 B Deledio (22 games)

I will probably get banned from ever posting again :( but I think they will give the Rising Star to the little skinny shit from Collingwood Dale Thomas.

Even though I think he has extremely poor disposal (complete opposite of our boy) and is defensively weak (unlike our Murph!), he stands out in side bound for the finals (I feel sick).

Other chances would have to be:

Danyle Pierce from Port
Heath Shaw (jesus, what is wrong with me!)
Andrew Raines
One of the two blokes from Hawthorn....Young or Birchall...I think it is Young.

Hopefully I am completely wrong and they give it to Murphy because he would have shat it in if it wasn't for some hack from the Brisbane Lions ending his season. :x

Symes from Port Adleaide wil have to go close.

holland was probably a bit better off because he actually finished off the season and left a bit of an impression. as i said before, a long as kevin bartlett is on that panel of selectors murphy wont win it.

Thomas? Not a chance. Has a good 6-7 games when Collingwood were flying and hasn't been seen since. Raines or Pearce are shoe ins if Murphy doesn't win it.

exactly thomas has absolutely no chance (even with kevin bartlett on the selection panle). my tip would be heath shaw and this proves what a joke the system is where a player 3 years older than murphy is still eligible to win it, i say the award should just be for first year players. raines or pearce would have to be right up there too, i dont think murph did himself too many favours by saying he doesnt think he should get the award at least it shows he's not worried about little individual awards.

Bingo.

I'd say either Pearce or Raines, leaning slightly more to Pearce.

Heath Shaw has had a fair year. I think it's out of those three if Murph doesn't win it.

Yep, that'd be my tip as well. I don't mind Raines either.

At the end of the day the eventual winner is not worth a straight swap for Murphy... whoever it is.

He might not win the rising star but the kid is all class. I love reading his column I think that is the best thing to come out of 2006 and his professionalism is amazing for such a young guy. No one who reads this can be in any doubt what a quality kid we picked up.

I think we should make him captain now. It would be a bold move, but one that would attract a hige deal of attention and place the captancy in the hands of someone that is going to be in the navy blue a long, long time and it rewards effort, courage, class and personal integrity.

Marc Murphy, you are a champion.

i said before that the biased kevin bartlett would give 5 votes to raines and none to murphy but it seems raines might be ruled out of winning it as he got reported, if he accepts the early guilty pleas i think he is still eligible but it would be awesome if he was ineligible to win it.

I think the award is becoming farcical. I mean take last week - Troy Chaplin has been on an AFL list for 3 years. If the kid can't make it for 3 years - that's bad luck - ok getting the nomination - but should be ineligable...I'd say the same thing if it was a Carlton boy, don't worry.

Malthouse put some pressure on the judges back in round 10 when he said that he thought Heath Shaw was leading the NRS by ' a street'. As I mentioned in a post back then - he must've forgotten about one Marc Murphy who was playing extremely well.

I'd like the judges to take the following point....who does Heath Shaw play on...do opposition coaches give him any respect and tag him? The answer is NO. Marc Murphy tagged - YES.

If Murph can't take home the chocolates - then young Lion Rischettelli should. He is a very smart player...anyone but Shaw...even Dale Thomas has been more impressive than Shaw IMHO.

Whomever wins it this year (and it may still be Murphy) we don't need the NRS to convince us that we got the best damn kid in the country last year, and he wanted to come to us.

That's worth more than any trophy or cheque to me.

spot on, the award should be restricted to first-year players only, its bullshit that heath shaw can still be eligible when he is 3 years older than murphy, is it murph's fault it took shaw so long to develop?
