I have been keeping an eye on what young Kade Simpson has been doing for a while now and can't help but think he is our next big thing. In fact I'll go as far as to say he will win a Brownlow Medal within the next 5 years.

After a very slow start to his career which was due to a lack of commitment from the coaches box, he is now repaying us in spades. His attack on the ball is first rate and his delivery by hand or foot is terrific as well.

Given that he is now a permenant member of the senior team and is playing b/w half-back & half-forward, he is sure to be under the umpire's nose at all times. The way the game has evolved and with the umpires voting, it is always players who are in that region of the ground who win the medal too.

Just turned 22yo, he has been in the AFL system for 4 years and given his gradual improvement over that time, it would be foolhardy to suggest that he isn't about to move into the prime years of is footy career. His value to our club cannot be understated and it would be interesting to see what sort of offers would be made for him if we gave the other clubs a sniff at trade time. Out of all the players on our list, apart from Fevola, he is the only one who would have a decent price on his head.

Nothing is beyond this kid either, he has the skills & dedication to be a 200 game player with all of the accolades attached (i.e. All-Australian etc). His biggest threat to success is injury but that could be said of any player in the competition.

All we need now is for him to start to take on & beat a few 'name' players in the league and the medal is his for the taking. Mark him down now for the Charlie in 2009, he's a monty !!!

The Sheik ... I know you mean well but stop trying to make me smile today. I'm trying to stay angry & negative. :P This is the 2nd positive thread started by you.

By the way, I think you might be right here, Simpson has a good chance because his explosive and standsout.

No, there's only you and your cyber-twin (who is stalking around here as we speak), the rest are simply human and cannot shy away from my obvious intellect & sheer logic.

Kade remindes me very much of the Shane Crawford type player and yeah, i could easilly see him one day in contention for a Brownlow.

Him and Muprhy are our future playmakers! :-D

I like Simpson, he has run and gives it his all, however, and there is a almost always a however with me, he needs to become a two 2 sided player.

Good player and has added intensity to his game....not sure about the brownlow.....would have thought Marc Murphy would be our next best chance.
Murphy wont ever be a tagger unlike Kade who might get a few jobs over the career and that might affect his stats......I think Kade will enjoy a B&F though at some stage.

I'm still waiting for the Sheiks other prediction to eventuate...Callan Beasy for skipper.... :P

I have been saying this since he was drafted an became my favourite player that second. Kade Simpson will be the Brownlow medallist in 2009. Have been saying it since he was drafted, even when he was looking shaky.

Good to see someone agree with me about it.

Go Simmo!!!

Simmo will be one of 4 players who are a huge chance for a B & F this year. Fev, Lance, Scotland and Simmo, all 4 very hard to split. All 4 would be worthy AA's this year, although that probably won't happen. Be nice though to get that plus Marc Murphy as a NAB Rising Star as well. Be nice for a club that "lacks talent".

Anyway, enough dreaming, back to the real world!!

Am a big fan of Homer - just needs to work on his right side in the off season.

I hope they appoint him to deputy vice captain or vice captain next season. Leadership material all over this kid.

Yes :)

He's been my favourite all year...the only thing that I used to be critical of is the way he tucks the ball under his arm and commits to a run...sometimes previously he would not find a target once he had commited to a run but his awareness of whats around him now and his decision making seems to be improving with each game.

He's been a breath of fresh air with his confident ball carrying, all year.
