The rookie draft is where the interstate sides can really make a killing. Particularly in SA and WA. It is so hard to commit to an interstate rookie that the SA and WA teams are able to take half of an entire state's rookies. We get a 10th of the Victorian ones. ANd that isn't even taking into account the greater numbers of rookies allowed to some interstate sides.

I don't think Freo pulled a rabbit out of the hat with Sandilands. There were issues about bringing him into the city (which would have been magnified incredibly by resettling his family and him in Melbourne), but I doubt whether many recruiters would not have been attracted to a 211 cm ruckman in the rookie draft.

But on Mitchell, he has gone on record to say that he and the Carlton Coaching staff were on shaky terms when the Bullants/Carlton alliegence came into effect and has said just this year that it is still a very touchy issue but they are constantly working on it!

Hell he even said that it's still a work-in-progress on the ABC a few weeks back.

None of us can say for sure (unless you make shit up) what is being said to the players at training and during matches.

It can't be all DPs fault. He can only work with the cattle he has.

I wouldn't have a clue to be honest. But i have seen as much of the Bullants as i have of Carlton in the past two years and i just see the Bullants playing a much more different game and style.

Of course i take preference to Carlton on the days that the games clash, and you have to take into account the step-down and difference in quality with the AFL to VFL but the way the Bullants play compared to the way the Blues play are just two totally different games.

Marks are not allowed for kicking backwards in the VFL and I think there are another couple of rules that are also different to AFL. These factors alone necessitate a different (and more direst) playing style. Different coaching philisophies may be part of the reason but there are also many other factors at play.
