If we get McKenna does that mean we get to build one of those high altitude room dealies?

I would think Longmire would be next in line for Laidleys job...which might be sooner than later....
Mckenna was a smart thinking footballer and I'm not sure he would be looking for a club that was on its knees......might come as an assistant to futher his education but I'm not sure about senior coaching.. I could see him applying for the Freo job though even though Harvey would be the front runner...

If it came down to Harvey v McKenna I cant see the Dockers choosing the Victorian. They'd be crucified by the locals.

But McKenna has no Fremantle connection at all. He played for Claremont who were aligned with the Eagles ... so apart from being a Western Australian, Fremantle people wouldn't necessarily see him as 'one of their own.

This is enough in my experience for him to be forgiven for anything.

i would be curious as to how it would work with the Worsfold/Sumich combination and McKenna being close mates/playing in premierships together - and then heading the two opposing clubs in a two horse town ... i'm not sure if that would be in the best interests of Fremantle. They would run the risk of increassing the perception that they are the poor relation of the Eagles ... and in some ways just a second rate extension of them.

Neither enthuse me, though I'd be particularly tickled if McKenna was to become our next coach.

The concept of it being a one man show is so outdated. It's time a team was put in place. Not a patchwork of former players acting as assistants to a head coach, but a real team, with a plan to work together, use each other's strengths as a team, and create an environment which is stimulating for the players, bonds them together and enthuses them to play and win.

Just scratching around looking for a new coach will see us remain in the bottom eight.

That sounds a little to progressive for my liking. Thought police, escort this man from the building.

Wouldn't mind finding out more about Don Pyke.

Very funny Nightcrawler but sadly, I would have to agree - far too progressive for CFC.

We really do need that committee that one our posters put up [JohnM, I think] headed by Mark Maclure going thru the football department and giving the Board [read Fitzpatrick] their recommendations and unbiased view of what they believe needs to be put in place.

If this whole Smorgan line about the FD being reviewed at season end is only a smokescreen to silence the members, then I would be filthy if that was the case.

Having said that, better question would be which people would make a great coaching panel for the CFC - from head coach thru to assistants?

My view would be as follows:

Head Coach - Barry Mitchell
Assistant - Stephen Silvagni
Assistant - Brett Rattan - Coach of Bullants
Assistant - Ross Lyon
Assistant - Sam Newman - Part - Time

In a voluntary, once every three months kind of role. Thats not even as often as we currently have Gary Dempsey down at the club and he's meant to be doing a great job with Aisake.
