The channel 10 story basically said that Pagan was pissed off with Ratten for quiting mid-season and that their relationship was so bad that Pagan would probably quit if Ratten was forced on him as an assistant.

So is that how they're going to get rid of him?

We don't want to go anywhere next year. Winning 6 or 7 games next year would be a DISASTER. In the 2007 draft we can add another Marc Murphy AND Josh Kennedy to our list or we can add another Jordan Russell. With the AFL so even these days another one or two top liners might be the difference between finishing 6th and winning the flag. WE DONT WANT TO BE SITTING HERE IN 2011 SAYING IF ONLY WE'D WON 3 LESS GAMES IN 2007. We have a chance to milk the early priority pick next year - its the system the AFL want, we have to rort it for all its worth.

This strategy will fail due to something called a "Salary Cap". Having at least 10 SUPERSTARS in one team will never happen due to the Salary Cap restrictions. If we moved forward with this strategy then after a few years we will have those players we picked up in the top 5 going into the draft and getting picked up by the bottom sides in the Pre-season draft. We will never get any use out of them. Unless your Sydney or Brisbane, teams can only afford 1-2 superstars. Premierships can be won by recruiting quality players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. This is the key and why recruiting is extremely important.

My opinion is to stop stupid trades AND draft young kids AND win games to get a winning culture back. Those who say Carlton are tanking obviously don't know how competitive AFL players are. The tanking theory is a myth and it only makes some Carlton supporters feel better because they can't come to terms our team is in a rebuilding phase and it only started a couple of years ago (should have started 6 years ago).

Look, we got struck down with cancer in 2002, our unhealthy lifestyle eventually caught up with us and to make matters worse the doctors took away our medication for two years. In 2004 we refused to accept how sick we really were and walked out of the hospital, we made it back to work but then collapsed one day in our office and got sent back to hospital. After two years of being a very good patient we could probably stagger back to work now, but doctors are recommending for a 100% recovery we spend one more year in hospital, it's not really a hard decision to make.

Why wouldn't you sack him now. After 5 years of misery out the door would do me just nicely. What a nice change that'll be. I'd like the team to actually start winning. you just get sick of the crap year after year, defeat after defeat. He lost the players long ago, as alluded to by Herald-Sun journo Greg Denham on SEN with KB this morning, and while he's there we'll go no-where.

We still would get a 1 & 2 round pick. The extra pick isn't worth losing a pile of games certainly not change us from an average to a super side. The best way of developing your kids is to win games. That alone will teach them more about the game than anything. A winning set-up, involved a good successful game plan and being part of that chain. Gives a young kid a lot of confidence, rather than the mental destruction of getting pounded week in, week out. That does nothing for you, nothing that one extra pick will help. All we get from that is everyone in forums wanting to trade our whole list. Not to mention the continual drop in membership. No good having a pile of good players that can't play as a team. You don't have to be Carlton of 95 or Essendon* of 2000 to be premiers that often. The Swans last year showed what an "average" (for want of a better word) type of team can do when they play for each other, their coach and their team. Give me that any day. Anyone that wants to see losing should support Richmond, they've done plenty of it in the last 25 years, so anyone who "wants to lose" will feel right at home there.

except that while we are in hospital no one is paying the mortgage on the house, we may lose the house if we stay in hospital for another year without working & our doctor is a fu%$ing idiot!!

We still got Simmo, Fisher (which was lucky as picks 45 & 72 aren't usually worth sh1t, maybe the Gods were looking after us.......maybe the "Carlton God"!!!!!.....lol), Walker and Stevens (PSD) from those two season's drafts. alot in 2003 would loved picks of those standards as their normal 1 & 2. Admittedly the bonus PP's would have been nice, but in the end we weren't that worse off than probably 13 other clubs (just the bottom clubs who go PP's).

Of course he is shrugging off the report, when he has the master of deception Ian WTF Coutts writing in his corner.

Pagan is right, we are a good draft or two away from having a decent list. Why the hell would anyone want to sack Pagan now? It would be great to finish last next year and get picks 1+2. Then Pagan in 2008 has a chance to show us what he's got, if he doesn't perform he is gone in 2009. Picks 1,17,19 in this draft and picks 1,2,18 in 2008 then the 'talent' on our list will be as good as anyones.

After five years of misery I am more than happy to go one more round.

I agree with you Carlton God.

We can't afford to have more than 4 wins both this year AND next year.

This would probably give us the list with the most potential in the competition.
