A little birdie has just informed me that there are going to be some "clandestine" meetings later this month informally interviewing/discussing potential coaching candidates for the future. An extremely reputable international HR company has been hired to "do the dirty work" so as to not arouse suspicions and keep it all on a professional level. All personnel working on this account have had to sign confidentiality agreements so as to not name names or divulge what roles are being discussed.

It is my understanding that there are already 12 of these meetings booked to take place over the next fortnight. Two of these meetings are supposedly being held overseas which would indicate that there is now a view that the club must look "outside the square" in order to achieve it's goals.

Apparently this whole thing is being funded by one (or a couple) of the big money men behind the scenes at the club. It is all tied in to them stating they will tip in a bucketload of corporate support if the right people are in the right places.

Yay Wee Won isn't getting a look in?

I had heard that We Do Ping was a chance but then Laurie and Karl got found out so he was scratched off the short list.

If it's Sven Goran-Eriksson then all is lost.

Time to cut our losses and go follow netball or gumboot throwing or something.

I know a coach who can take over and in a year will get results, will also be cool to see an AFL coach with a cigar on the sidelines.

Ahhhh I see. You have sauce

Well even assuming that's believeable (and why we would look "outside the quare" for an international coaching candidate, when you could look inside the square for one who actually knows something about the game of AFL is beyond me), if it's sooooo top secret that the club is making people sign confidentially agreements over it ... why would you want to go and post it on the internet? Next thing you know Mike Sheehan will sober up enough to login to the website and it will be all over the HUN tomorrow. How is this acting in the the clubs best interest?

He's a journalist (let me rephrase that, he writes). They're all drunks.

Rec'd an update earlier today.

Three senior consultants are working on the project, one will be heading west, one will be going north and the third is going to NZ, the US was mentioned but not confirmed.

Is the thinking that because the game is changing so rapidly that an overseas coach would have no f&^king idea anyway and hence would be the perfect candidate?

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are our only hope.
