YES! Would indicate a changing of the guard and a look to the future.

Unfortunently the club would NEVER go for it and appoint Whitnall who has zero personality on the field.

Positives:
1) It send a good message to the kids, work hard enough and you can achieve anything
2) It's probably a good fit having a younger captain with a younger group
3) Fev could do it for 5 years, and then hand over to one of the new guys we are getting around the club. It allows guys like Murphy to develop without additional pressure and then take over the leadership when they are ready

Potential negatives:
1) Fev only gave up the grog while his wife was pregnant, he's talked about having a beer after she gave birth

Deciding factors:
1) We've been conservative as a club even when it's been the perfect opportunity to be aggresive (eg in keeping contracted players rather than delisting them, lack of proactive marketing, etc). This might at least show some prospective members that we are will to take a punt now.
2) Lack of alternative candidates

I came into this post thinking that it was a bad idea, but I think I've talked myself around. Go Fev.

The only downside to me is having your Captain at FF - if we're getting pumped he won't be in the game much. but we have to be adventurous I think going forward - we have to start selling ourselves and Fev is a natural. I'd say Yes.

He is the only Full Forward I know who could move up to the wing position gain possession, spot up a player in our goalsquare on the lead and hit him on the chest.

I bet FEV wishes there was two of him so he could deliver the ball to himself from time to time. 8)

Fev is one of our most accurate field kicks.

I think Fev has the charisma and respect from the younger players to be captain. He's shown that you can genuinely turn around a flagging career with a touch of dedication and would be an inspiration in that sense.

It'd also piss off the supporters of every other club which can only be a good thing.

I think we need a captain who has mongrel in him, only candidates for that who are young, decent and worthy are Walker, T-Bird or Fev.

I still think Lance will get it, Stevens and Fev Vice.

Waite also, but we'd need a stand in captain for the 15 games a year he's out injured.

If Waite had half his dad's heart he would be a perfect choice for Captain. So much ability and talent, just gotta get the injuries down.

If Fevs is Keen then that is a posative start..
Fevs is still growing at a rapid rate in his confidence levels..

That's also a posative ofcoarse.

However we must tread carefully. Fev must earn it off the bat of more than one great year. To give it to him now would be neglectful in teaching Brendan Fevola, and his teamates, and the young eyes watching all around.

We should definatly give him vice Captaincy and let him continue to show us how much he still wants it. Peerhaps we could have a rotating roster for the next three or four years until Marc Murphy is ready for the role.

This way we could share it around and spread the love to those that deserve and have earnt it.

It would not be the right thing to do at the end of this year.....

Also Fevs has just had a child with his new Bride so there are many challenges for Brendan right now. Lets not overload him, instead lets keep that confidence growing while still rewarding him with the Captaincy AT THE RIGHT TIME.

Well, not piss them off exactly but it'd fuel some derision which is the next best thing.
