I was there, I was wrapped, excited still about our potential.

but if we have only one more win then I want to beat Collingwood.

Can we start planning that now.

what makes you think we'll win 4 games next year? surely we'll win more than that.

We played an entire second string Melbourne midfield.

In the meantime we have to rebuild.. thats the priority.

what would you give up to get a top 20 pick in the best draft of all time ???

Lance wouldnt be able to bring you one .... no the pick 17 #18 in this draft is worth more than a Lance..,or even a Waite.. as there is no way in the world anyone would give you pick for Waite...

But i already have a pretty good insight into the way your mind clicks over.... :-D

i'd give stevens but denis said that as long as he's coach that wont happen (whether he will be coach is a difrent story) and i think waite IS our future and no club will offer a top 20 pick for him event hough i'd be willing to do it. i'd say our best chance is probably lance + 3rd round pick or something.

We need better than Waite if we ever are going to have a meaningful future.

Waites ok.... but he aint a trade for a top 20 pick from this draft...

Its important to focus on the rebuild before we get carried away cos we beat a Melbourne side minus their engine.

Great win.. good game.. but sheeeeeeeeeeeeeesh.. our skills are miles away what we need.

We have to fill out our list with quality if were going to be fair dinkum and not an also ran.

We keep on losing and we might not have a club any more. How many members will we have next year if we keep losing? We can get all those draft picks but if we can't afford decent facilities like the rich interstate clubs we'll just fall further behind. How is coming to a club with a losing culture where supporters want to lose going to help their development?

How are St K going with all those high draft picks they got for spending years on the bottom?

I can totally understand those who don't want to win again in order to gain a PP (around the 17-18 mark)

&.........................

I can totally understand those who wanna win as many games this year as possible, even if that means sacrificing a pick.

It's a shitty situation to be in isn't it?

Me? - I WANT THE WIN! - Did you see those boys today? How much they loved hearing that song after a victory! I wanna see that again!

how many wins do we need to have in order to get a PP this year? the PP that comes after every other team has selected.

and won tthey enjoy singing it often rather than every now and again alot more??

When i hear people saying they have a sore throat from singing the song all the way home (just like the good old days) i have to roll my eyes... because in the good old days we didnt win the odd game.. we won most times...

Why did we win most times???

Because we had more champions than anybody else...

this is not like the good old times.. and if were not careful the goold old days wont be coming back.. but we will be in a groundhog day situation when we win 5 to 10 games a year... like stKilda supporters used to be and each win was celebrated like a flag..cos they never had the players to play off for one.

Thats the reality!!!!

the fantasy is different....

The fantasy is ..we won a game of footy and we celebrate it really hard cos we dont know where the next is really coming from... it might be next week.. it might be next year.. it might be next week.. followed by the week after then nothing till round 12 next year...

Were still miles away.

We need to focus on the macropicture not the micropicture.

This is it, we win one more game and that pick is foregone :(

It's a bit of a dilemma isn't it? Personally I would prefer to not win another game this year (can we draw with Collingwood? please 8) ) and get another top 20 pick.

It would've been completely different had we been in finals contention but a meaningless (use that word very lightly) win isn't worth it, it isn't in the best interests of the club IMO - ask yourself if you wouldn't give up a win towards the end of the season for a Drum/Jones/Hurn etc because personally I would even if it pains me to say it.

*Edit* Disclaimer: These feelings only hold true given that we don't finish last, if we are on the bottom again anytime over the next 4 rounds then I'll take as many wins as possible to avoid the spoon.

i agree exactly with you, if we're not last i dont want to win again but if we're last i dont care how many wins we get as long as we're not last. especially in a draft like this, where the top 3 picks are all just as good as each other.

The top 5 picks in the National Draft might all be good. But the top pick in the Pre-Season Draft is also critical. You might be forgetting that.

As much as i like seeing carlton win, I had a hollow feeling when Simmo kicked that goal.

I WANT THE #1, #17, #19 AND the #1 in PSD AS WELL, so we can win LOTS of games (specially GFs).

(If they told you in 1985 that if you win one more games, you won't get Kernahan the next year, would you have wanted to win another game???????)

Don't worry Sailorman, I hear you and agree wholeheartedly.

But I think you may be banging your head against a brick wall with most of the people here.

Yes let's get another McLaren or a Gardiner. How often are there good players available in the PSD?

the last 3 no.1 picks in the PSD are as follows:

2003: jade rawlings
2004: trent knobel
2005: dylan mclaren

is it still that important?
