Walker has had close to two BOG (for the Blues) in a row! Really making the progress and is scary to think how good he'll be next year.

has the potential to be better than andrew mcleod, they play similar positions and play a similar style but i like walker a bit more, wonder what tex would be like in a grand final.

My man JR, when he gets more game time next year he will prove a few people wrong. Can't fault his endeavour and with more confidence he will start to impact games off half back with his footskills and ability to weave through traffic.

Walker and Simmo are just stars. Both will be All-Australian before they retire.

McGrath a good come back after a poor one last week.

T-Bird is putting his name up in lights for All-Australian full back at the right time of year. unfortunately the first half of his year will be costly.

French rediscovered himself.

Blackers is a pure footballer with great smarts. Reminds me of Daniel Kerr with his ability to win the ball and make room for himself in and around packs. If he becomes half as good as Kerr he will be a star.

It was good today … amazing what the threat of the sack does to you!

It was all Sticks again and the win had nothing to do with Pagan.

But the thing I can't figure out is this. The players apparently all want to get rid of Pagan. Prior to the game, the pressure was building on Pagan and there seemed to be some prospect that the Board might sack him despite the cost of paying out 2 years of a healthy contract. That would be the perfect time to put the knife in Pagan. A few spiritless performances in the last 5 games of the year would probably have made Pagan's position untenable.

But instead, the team goes out and wins on the back of intensity and commitment that Melbourne couldn't match. Come to think of it, the team has been having a red hot go for the whole year. Andrew Maher said as much last night on After the Match. He noted that Pagan and the assistant coaches had been under pressure, but you could look at the way that the team played against Melbourne. He said that was the best indicator for a young team that was still finding its way, and apart from a few games they had showed this the whole year.

So, where are the signs that the team won't play for Pagan? I'm sure you could have heard a pin drop while Sticks addressed them, but noone could surely suggest that they are playing for Sticks.

The biggest positive for me was that it was the contribution from the younger players that got us the win.

I also enjoyed Fev showing some controlled aggression at half time. Fev is a beast and him showing a willingness to fly the flag will make the young skinny blokes walk a foot taller.

Yep, that was also highlighted by Andy Maher last night, and he made the same point despite Michael Christian's doubts.

Listening to Fev this morning I got the impression that Sticks' passion for the club comes across as a huge inspiration for the players and that happened again yesterday. Something that Pagan can't extract maybe.

A great buzz had by all Carltonians. Players, supporters, coaches, support staff, media, the AFL.....to watch the youngest team in the comp continue to strive for a win against the odds.

Since the Weagles game, something has really been brewing along and heading towards a well deserved win. This whole year has been a competitive effort, ever since the Port practise match (except for 2 games). They are only kids, and they achieved a huge win, and won many quaters against all teams above them.

We have a lot to look forward to. One more big preseason, a couple of new quality draftees (ready to play), Hartlett and Bower's first games, and the return of bigger, stronger and faster Murphy and Kennedy.

What a great day. I saw 4 Carlton jumpers at the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi Beach at lunchtime yesterday. It was an omen.

Go Blues

:-D

Needs 15 more goals in the remaining 4 games to become the Blues highest goalkicker since Jezza's 115 goal effort in 1970.

http://www.blueseum.org/cfc/tiki-index. ... 69+to+2006

Needs to go past 97 goals in a season (Vallence in 1932) to become the 2nd highest in a season behind Jezza. Not this year, but 22 games from Marc Murphy next year will not hurt his charnces.
