Shit has hit the fan over Kouta. The board has offered him about $200,000 to play next year. Just a lazy $900,000 paycut! He and Allison spewing. Kouta WANTS TO PLAY ON but not for what the club is offering. Allison says Kouta will retire if the club doesn't increase the offer. Expect this in the papers tomorrow.

I wouldn't pay him much more either, he's over-earned for a long time.

I really don't think Kouta or Allison will get much support for their spew.

$200,000 is representative of his output - good in bits, not a key player in any position, sort of a second string midfielder.

But after what he's earned, who is going to think he's underearned?

Will remain on vets list so only half will go to TPP. Would expect him to become a bench player so won't play full games.

As much as i love Kouta, it's not about him anymore or any individual for that matter.

FFS Kouta just retire with grace! It's over!! The club needs to move on.

For those living under a rock the past few years who don't know much about Dave Allison here's a reminder (written by Greg Baum) of how this prick operates.

Who commands anything over $400,000 based on their ability and output?

No-one...yet. Fevola and Whitnall might be close. Simpson is headed there. Murphy should be too come end of 2008.

I've heard kouta say a few times now he would only consider staying on next year if the club wanted him. I thought he meant if the coaching staff really wanted him and thought he could contribute, but maybe he meant only if the club pays him enough $$$$. I don't really see the point of him playing on myself.

Kouta to Melbourne or st kilda for pick 45 :)

Poor, hard done by millionaire. He either wants to play or doesn't, surely it shouldn't be about money for him at this stage. If it is we're better off without him

I wouldn't get to stressed about an Allison generated media rumour.

I hear you buddy. 15 other clubs would have offered him base salary.

Does anyone know if Allison manages any of the other players at the club???

Fingers crossed that with Kouta's retirement it will be the last we see of this parasite at the club. We should follow the lead of those other clubs that refuse to deal with him.

As for Kouta, personally I think we should be asking him to retire. He's had a great career, but we need to look to the future. If he stays on, he needs to understand and accept that if his form is not up to par, he could end his career in the Bullants. Might be a little harsh, but I think in our situation tough decisions need to be made.

Allison's last grasp opportunity to screw our club.

Its a shame he's going to drag Kouta down with him.

Can someone please ask Kouta if this is how he wants to be remembered....squabbling over his last contract

:(

I'll wait for the papers tomorrow to see if their is any truth in it.

I want Kouta to play on, because we do need a few older guys around - playing and training - to just be there for our youngsters. I hope he goes on...

I think you'll find kennyhunter has always been on the money with the scoops of what will be in paper the next day.

If kennyhunter posts it, then there is truth.

kennyhunter has breached media embargos in the past, but just because something is in the media doesn't make it the truth...it's just what's in the media.

Allison has a history of this sort of stuff.

As they say hindsight is a wonderful thing!

When he signed his last contract he was one of the elite players in the AFL and clubs were throwing around huge contracts over many years.

Kouta has taken pay cuts for our club and his yearly pay has been back ended, ask yourself how many people in the community would take a pay cut this year and agree to receive the balance next year. After black Friday we were still in the shit with the next salary cap - hence Kouta to a pay cut and back ended his contract.

I agree he has been overpaid however when he was signed up he was one of the best players in the comp.

We all know he is not the same player anymore and I actually think he should retire however I will refuse to bag the guy and for some of you that think he should go to another club you should hang your head in shame.

Allison is behind all the crap that will come out in the media.

I bet most of us would have applauded the club back in 2000 or when ever we signed him and now some want to bag him. Kouta deserves better he never wanted to be Captain, but turn the clock back several years ago and ask yourself who else was there. He never was or will be our most insperational captain but at least he didn't turn his back on the job.
