You saying nobody here works?? Did you think that maybe most would work normal hours, and not 10 o'clock on a Thursday night?

Posted this in the captains thread:

"After watching the first hour of Fev on the TFS last night, i'm convinced he should not be our captain. Still too loose with what he says."

Fev has charisma, he has that knockabout lad thing about him.........put him in the leadership group but too risky as captain.

What Fev's remarks show is that maybe, just maybe our boys are starting to feel good about themselves and each other, maybe! Are we starting to see a bond developing? Lets hope so.

For what it's worth, Buckley last week made a course comment on the Footy Show and for the life of me, I cannot remember what it was, but it was reported in the paper as being an unfortunate comment from him.

Does that make Buckley less of a captain?

Fev does not play the buffoon on the show as much as when he first started.

I think the environment of the Footy show tends to encourage the lower intellegience of the players, who actually have a personality in the interest of entertainment. Outside of that program, his leadership skills are great.

And I have noticed a lot more, but it hasn't been mentioned, that he is communicating more with the players on the field during the breaks in game, giving suggestions and discussing different options IMO.

I think Fev's biggest and greatest example of leadership was giving up the drink and for a man of his age and the life of that of a footballer, that is an enormous commitment to the CFC club and to his future as a footballer.

fev's greatest asset is his emotion.

bare with me while i try to explain what i mean.

fev shows actual excitment when he does things, he loves it, gives it the finger to the crown etc.. everyone gets excited.

but it is the excitment he shows to those around him that i enjoy watching.

he seems to get more enjoyment out of watching someone else do something quality that he does if he does it himself.

that is a great asset for any person in my opinion.

if someone you consider a leader shows genuine excitment in something you have done, its confidence boosting

look at so many examples of fev being excited to the point where he looks like he is a school boy at times for what other carlton players have done and that is inspiring.

that type of genuine excitment generates confidence and suddenly it generates people feeling good about themselves, and creates a positive vibe about the place.

something, which we are sadly lacking at the moment.

i was very cautious about creating fev captain, but considering what he has done, what he is doing, how he handles his team mates, his media profile, the way he speaks about the club when anyone has a dig - he is the captain of the carlton football club already, he just needs the offical position.

Sorry, I know lame humour & thread sidetracks aren't exactly flavour of the month right now…but prez, coming from you, that is a lovely typo mate :)

By the way good post. Isn't it good to see someone genuinely enjoying his footy out there.

Fev and Crawf were on fire last night.

Why do most people criticise footballers when they actually tell the truth and act just as they do around the footy club. It is refreshing to see.

Either Fev or Lance will captain next year. They will just be keeping the seat warm for Smurph in a few years time.

Did Cameron Ling actually deny the ill-feelings at Cat Park?? Seems like something is going on down there..........

I think Fev's performance tonight (including admission last yr he was a drunk who didn't care about playing football) shows he has come a long way but not far enough to be captain- let him be a leader of the club with a media profile, but don't give him the captaincy because it makes it look like the club endorses his behaviour. Don't get me wrong...i love the fev

So who do you think should be captain? Let me guess, the KFC kid, someone who has turned up to pre-season three of the past five years overweight, what a great example he sets.
