The bummers just wont accept the spoon, we have to really make them earn it and a win tomorrow is a must for us. we no longer have the luxury of wanting the extra pick coz if we dont win any more games the spoon is ours, and we really need to spank the hawks tomorrow so at least our percentage might save us if Essendon* win again.

I hope we upset Collingwood, to get off the bottom and perhaps destroy their finals at Geelong's expense.

Well, we still have the chance to hand it to the Poo Browns on Sunday...

Yes, it seems that the Hawks are making a belated run for the 'spoon... Maybe they saw how well Gibbs has been playing...

Yep, gotta win tomorrow!!

Although I have been advocating the extra top 20 pick, I've always maintained that it cannot come at a cost of another spoon - have to avoid that at all costs.

Come on Blues!!!

yeah we need a really healthy percentage coz right now Essendon* are on top of us on percentage and if we really belt the hawks today then if Essendon* win again it wont be so easy for them to jump ahead of us on the ladder.

Eseendon play Hawthorn next week. If they lose both games the hawks could be on the bottom next week.

its a good possibilty especially as our percentage is better than hawthorns, but both Essendon* and carlton are 1 and a half games behind hawthorn so if both teams beat hawthorn both need to scrape out another win.

i just realized that hawthorn's percentage doesnt come into it as both Essendon* and carlton have a draw.

16th is to 15th what 10th is to 9th.

One place the difference. Both outside the final eight. Both losing seasons. You do know they don't actually award a wooden spoon, like they do a flag?

I honestly don't know why people get worked up about finishing last. Every spot outside the eight is a failed season, and there's no honour in finishing 12th or 13th or 14th or 15th.

If they didn't hand out better draft picks for finishing lower on the ladder, I honestly couldn't care less where we finished if we weren't going to make the finals. It's irrelevant.

Hallelujah.

I think it was easier to argue the case when we'd never finished last but it's a little like losing your virginity isn't it.

Once it's gone why give a toss?

if i had a choice between 9th and 15th i'd choose 15th but when it comes to 16th as a carlton supporter you just cant accept that, one of a million reasons is that if we get another spoon this year that's one more soon than what collingwood has even without that another spoon is just unacceptable especially this year when the no.2 pick would suit our needs more than the no.1 pick.

I understand what you're saying John and agree in part but I do feel that there is an added stigma which attaches when you finish last. Just the fact that you have been worse than every other team over the course of a season doesn't sit too well with me. It's just one of those things where pride seems to be hurt even more when you finish stone motherless. So whilst your post makes a lot of sense, I'd take coming second last over last each time and even then obviously I'm not happy with second last either.

Yes but... I swear I'm not a geek, but I think I can name every Premier (and probably losing Grand Finalist) for the last 30 years.

I honestly couldn't tell you who came last in those years. Just like I can't tell you who came last in the last 5 Olympic 100m finals, but I know the winners. I don't know who came last in the Melbourne Cup either.
