We are playing the Hawks, oh I remember those mongrels far too well. They had to be endured for far too long as their soggy socks rose out of the mud of glenferrie and rode the back of a generation or two of great footballers to build a mini-empire and became the only club to rival the glorious Navy Blue starburst.

Peter Crimmins was the only good Hawk as far as I am concerned the rest were thugs with a smidgen of talent.

So today as the sun shines bright with more than whiff of September moonshine in the air I want the blubagger kids to run out and belt the everlasting brown and gold crap out of this Hawthorn side that seems to be held up as a model yet rarely ignites anything more than a whimper.

Mostly I want Blackers and Russell to shine so bright people will be talking about the young bluebloods all through the summer. Blackers to get 30 touches and Russell to dazzle with his speed and endevour.

I want it all. I want Kouta to turn back the clock and remind us all why he once took our breath away, I want Houla to dance, Banno to go whamo,
T-Bird to glide through the lines, AB to foxhole his way around the ground, Tex to leap and take mark of the century and so we'll have the first of many posters for the kids to stick up on their walls! Tex on the shoulders of Croad - ahhh you beauty!

I want Stevens to be the blonde flash, Carrots to get leather poisoning and still that will not be enough. I want us to give 'em such a pasting Kennet will open that big, slimy trap of his and swallow the whole Hawthorn sub-basement plot!

I want us to smash them into little gold and brown sparkles that will glimmer in the sunshine, a broken bauble lost in the glory of the bluebagger dream.

I want us to make such a statement that the media will finally sit up and notice, notice that something is building at Carlton, something big and dangerous and beautiful.

I want us to shine so bright people will queque for memberships and will give rise to a belief the Titanic never sank at all, it simply berthed somewhere dark and distant for a time.

I want us to win each and every quarter and with two strung to together to head into the game against the tiggies and belt them as well and Collingwood while we are at it, heck lets win the remaining games and have a victory food feast! Oh call me glutton but I want my fill and then some!

I want us to start the comeback this afternoon in this bright shining day with the whispers around the ground, 'September is coming our way' growing into a roaring Bluebagger scream!

Go Blues!

Always.

Confession Time - this weekend its my first game....(for the year)

Terrible I know, but due to ill health and work commitments its the first opportunity I've had. (*dont worry, the club still got my $500 membership)

That little schpiel was what I needed, it made me feel excited about footy again, when in all honesty I thought that maybe I was past that for the moment.

Football was such an important part of my life growing up, I was hoping that excitement hadn't beeen relehated to the memory box.
just yet

GO BLUES

I'm so excited!!

Even though I'm so far away from the action, I have grown to love the Sunday game with all its interactivity.

GO EVERYONE!

Carlton must have had the most 'interactive' games this year. I really like it as well, especially the 'wide eye' shot, which allows you to see more of the game.

The camera's in the rooms are interesting as well. It was amazing last week to see how many people were in the rooms after a win compared to the rooms being close to empty after losses. The atmosphere in the rooms after a win would have been great for the young players.

Yeah, the in the rooms stuff has been a bit depressing with everyone moping about. It has been interesting to see Kernahan issuing advice to players. I remember him have a long, and animated, conversation with Murphy early in the season.

I wonder why we get so many interactive games?

Looking forwardto this afternoon.

Exactly Jarusa!

The room shots have been a real eye opener. To see the likes of Walker sitting alone on the floor for 20 minutes was devastating..

There has been a look of a funeral about the place. Those supporters who are there look embarrassed to be there and all conversation looks stilted and hushed.

One can only imagine what this does to player morale and outlook particularly for the younger ones.

Strangely this never seems to be addressed by the "tankers"!

great opportunity this week for the young fellas to make a mark in their development. we are playing a side of similiar sorts and should be aiming to belt the be-geeeezuz out of them.

biggest game of the year for me given all i wanted to see in 2006 was the young fellas move on and up.

7 dom.

ill address it....

Walker is sitting alone after a loss because we lack quality.

so until we can bring more quality into the team to help Walker to not sit alone after a game.. he will be sitting alone alot more times than he doesnt.

i dont want Walker like that any more than anyone ... but you have to be realistic.

If walker sang the song one more time a year but cost himself singing it as a habit over a career more often than not.. we havent done the best thing by AW....

AW and the others who are good enough to be there long term need to have an opportunity to play with more talent for the ultimate prize in football.

Till he has that group of players around him.. he will be sitting alone in the rooms after a loss.. because thats the reality.

Walker has sung the song how many times? 20? If he's lucky, in 50 games.

Another 20 in his next 50 games? If he's lucky?

I'm sure he's over the moon about that.
