Setanta not loosing his bundle early when beaten by Franklin, had a good impact in the second half...Would of learnt HEAPS today..

I think he will make it. 8)

Fevs fighting the nerves to nail crucial goals to and secure the coleman medal..Developing nerves of steel, the sort that wins you premierships.
An absolute gun.

The comeback, that belief is the key we need to unlock a few more doors.

Crawford trying to outrun Walker, tackle, turnover, goal.

setanta is a huge positive. He spoiled well & attacked the footy all day. I'm really glad he didn't go into his shell after being beaten & getting dragged.

Fev - what more is there to say. What a superstar.

The kids were quiet but it's another game under their belts.

Season is nearly over

I agree that Carlos is showing some excellent signs, but he and a few other fancied teammates need to improve their foot disposal. FAST!

Another positive is that these days when someone holds Fev to 4 goals the commentators say they've done a marvellous job.

Setanta was good and just has to keep playing and at least in his Press Conference Denis said as much...thing is with Setanta he will probably cost us a goal or so a game but does it really matter? There are players in our side who have been playing for longer than he has that make similar and just as frequent mistakes that his mistakes are just about irrelevant. With Setanta you just look for the signs, focus on the good things he does and not worry if he makes a mistake because pretty much every player in our team cost us goals at some stage whether it be directly or indirectly. I genuinely do think that if you overlook the fact that Setanta doesn't look like a "natural" footballer and just concentrate on what he actually does out there you wouldn't say he's done any worse than any other bloke who's only played 9 games of senior footy. If you expect him to dominate then you'll be disappointed...if you take him for what he is at this stage and concentrate on his good passages of play such as spoils, strong marks, decisions etc then you'll be happy.

Other positives well Fev is truly a gun footballer. Simmo again very good. And half a positive is Brad Fisher. The only weakness in his game and yes I do realise that it is a fundamental weakness is his kicking. I genuinely believe that if Fish got his kicking to even a 'reasonable' level then he could be the best third forward in the comp. Very difficult matchup, best pair of hands we have bar none and has actually shown he can push up the ground and almost player as another midfielder. If he became a better kick then he would be a really really good player.

Bannister was a positive for me, he worked extremely hard and gave us drive

A number of positives for mine.

Great competitive effort after being blasted away early. Some really good passages of quick ball movement. Out of defence on a couple of occasions, and out of the centre on a couple of occasions.

Fev was outstanding. Love the fact that he now keeps finding ways of getting goals. Some from marks. Some from frees. Some from snaps.

Of the more mature players: Thornton was good again. Lappin was very good. Bannister did some nice things. Waite and Fisher presented really well throughout the game. Stevens and Scotland were good.

Of the younger players: Simpson excellent as usual. Great to see Walker get a run in midfield. His clean hands and burst of speed were exciting. Very good kicking from him today. Setanta continues to show me that he's going to be an exciting player. (Should be a pretty exciting, and a little chaotic, defence, when we've got both Setanta and Bower dashing around down there!)

Croad getting run over twice by Fev - priceless moments that cannot be replaced.

Carlos - kept trying even after Franklin blew him out of the water int he 2nd qtr.

I thought Bannister was very good - he tried all day. Lappin, Scotland, Stevens, Fisher.

I liked some of Bryan's marks today in the F50 - just needs to learn to kick a score after the mark. Out of bounds is not an acceptable return.

Only 3 more games to go before the skills sessions start up in earnest for Season 2007. 8)

That was superb. He's pretty quick when he sets his mind to snagging a target.

It's a shame Fev missed a couple of relatively easy gets, he could have bagged 10 for the first time in his AFL senior career. His by play with the Hawthorn cheer squad appeared to be good harmless fun as well.

After one of the 50m penalties he won against Croad where he simply slotted the goal home from point blank range, I thought it showed a continuing sign of maturity that he was able to walk away from Croad without getting into a silly push and shove argument as well.

Keep up the great work and improevment Fev!

Last year we would have crumbled after such a disastrous start....boys are proving to themselves that they have plenty of potential and plenty of improvement in their make up, let alone ability to win games.

They played like a team in the second half. Showed their true potential.

The kids played out the game in a competitive fighting spirit.

Setanta does look like a footballer, and has shown more than enough to prove he has the height, the athleticism and the pace to play CHB and will match the gorillas after one more preseason. He's just getting better with every game, and he's still a kid.

Fev, Lappin, Stevens and Simpson were very good. Lappin has lost a yard, Stevens just has to work on tackling (making and breaking), Simpson is a midfielder, and Fev is just going to improve twofold in 2007; he'll get a bit better, and there will be more and better delivery to him next year, no doubt. 100 goals in 2007.

Russell presented well, and it was delivery to him that was disappointing.

Fisher's marking is outstanding, and his and Waite's ability to keep presenting is just going to get better.

Bannister only 23, but plays with maturity and skill aplenty.

Eddie gives the team the 1%'ers required to make a difference, and sets the tone for the rest of the team. I wish we could have him closer to Fev when Fev's got 2-3 on him. Fev will bring it to the ground if not mark it, and Bettsy is the right bloke to take it away 50% of the time = 20 additional goals in 2007 for him if he does.

Thornton is becoming the equal to any Full back in the competition. He's developed into a class act, and should not have been matched up on Williams (McGrath should have been).

Given Scotland's disposal was off song, Houla had a real quiet one, Blackers wasn't breaking lines, Carazzo was quiet, Walker was relatively quiet, Bentick was tough but quiet on clear possessions, French's and Fisher's misses from close in, a 5 goal head start, that led to a 55 point advantage, the signs are good for the team, and goes to show that we were carrying quite a few today.

A more even contribution from all 22 will improve in 2007 with maturity and experience, and further improved from general strengthening and individual skills work in the preseason, add to that Murphy, Kennedy, Hartlett and Hansen/Gibbs. Things that make you go mmmmmmmm.

I think they have the belief in their ability, and this is one thing we have developed in 2006; the springboard for our quest to Flag 17.

A really good second half boys.

Spot on blues 2005. Setanta had a few kicked against him but only someone with Franklins sublime skills could have snagged those hlaf chances, and would have done so on anyone. Setanta did some great brave spoils and tackles and ran and took a bounce, did one awful kick and plenty of good ones, and doesn't go into his shell if he makes a mistake. When he runs he needs a shepherd to gte cllear and break the lines. Not sure if the coaches have got up to that in the four years they have been there.

I thought Bryan was not bad apart from diabolical goal kicking, bgut we desperately need a decent ruckman

Banno was pretty good and both he and McGrath deserve to be on the list.

Fish won so many contests but because of his awful kicking he didn't hurt them. He was miles better than Franklin in winning contests, but Franklin's foot skills are a million miles ahead of Fish.

Love your optomism Bondi but I really couldn't find much more out of the game

Very impressive..could be a player.
Rapt we still keep our hopes alive for the PP.

If he played AFL as youngster this kid would already been a gun. I love the mark he took in teh 2nd half and exploded out of that pack.
He is pretty explosive for a tall bloke. Great see he backed him self after he f*cked up a kick minutes before.

Go Sentanta!

Love your optimism Bondi.

If we draft well this year with picks #1, #17 and #18 (and hopefully get a quality freebee in the pre-season draft) to add to our list I think premiership no 17 won't be as far away as many people think.

All we need is a quality ruckman, CHB and a couple more midfielders i.e 4 more quality players.

Positives for mine:

1. Fev - beat Croad for raw football ability
2. Stevo - showed some of his class that has been missing for far too long
3. Banno - tried to take them on and create
4. Williams - didn't pull out his f***** rifle.

I loved the way that we came back after we were insipid in the first half. A couple of years ago with that start and we would have lost by 100. I think the guys know that they can now match it with most sides if they apply themselves. Fev and Setanta were both great examples of this.
