As you all know there is heaps of trade speculation at the moment. Let’s face it, we need some of this rumour-mongering to be real to boost our stocks in the coming seasons. I usually discount the majority of the press reports and the player manager leaks like [b]“Joe will nominate for the PSD if he doesn’t get a 3 year contract etcâ€

Nice post brizzy - but we'd get picks 1, 17 and 18 under your scenario.

i dont wanna trade whitnall, stevens, hartlett or russell. 2 of them are big parts of our set up and the other 2 i hope will become the same.

the worst thing we could do is trade hartlett and russell, see them go somewhere else and succeed.

not if the players we get in return turn out to be an even bigger part of our setup.

if you are short on quality players, i don't think you should trade the ones you have. Stevens & Whitnall should not be traded unless the deal is too good to be true. I say take the picks 1, 17, 18, 36 & 52, get an alright player in the pre-season draft hopefully better than McLaren and build from there.

I'd trade Whits for 2 picks or a first rounder without hesitation. This gamne will only get faster.

Isn't trading away a senior player tantamount to tanking?

I'd do that trade.

If we trade away Whitnal or Stevens( who i think is still a qualtity player, having an average year), we'll have next to no experance. It's would be great to have 5 or 6 picks under 20 but that would surely mean another 5 or 6 years on the bottom. Successful teams have a mixture of youth and experance.

The Fringe Players we have that might have some appeal are: Ryan Houlihan, Jordan Russell, Adam Hartlett, Simon Wiggins, Adrian Deluca, Chris Bryan, Luke Livingston, Trent Sporn, Corey McGrath, Jordon Bannister or David Teague.

Hartlett and Russell aren't fringe players but kids like Simpson when he started and we wouldn't get "value for money" in trading them for the pick we'd receive.

Brizzy want to do it easy without the stress. Instruct teammates to bust their gut this week and for the next two and deliver Fev the ball. Get him over 100 and demand 2 top 10 picks and an early second rounder. Given how many forwards we have losing Fev want be that bad. Lance will be able to cover him till JK matures.

Half tounge in cheek but hey why worry about getting ulcers when we could potentially hand them out.

Dream on. Jarrod Waite is the only bloke that might get a first rounder that I would consider trading.

Iw ouldnt be trading whitnall or stevens for any less than a rd 1 pick and a high one at that...If we were offered I would certainly consider, but we do need experience as well...Whitnall will either be or just miss out on being the AA CHB and worthily as well....you can't tell me sides like the bulldogs, eagles and demons who are struggling for key forwards/backs wouldnt give there first rounder to secure him...i'd probably want them to throw in a 3rd rounder as well...much the same for stevens though perhaps not as lucrative, but i see Essendon*, collingwood and st.kilda as front runners for him...I would be gutted if we offered one of these AND Houlihan for a first round pick...Houlihan is worth a second rounder in his own right...hey that sounds good

This will be the trade for the future for most clubs. the chance to pick up a 10 year player of top quality will mean most, if not all, hang on to their first rounder.

The only deal I'd consider giving up a first rounder from Carlton would involve Fev. You gotta ask yourself 'are you feelinin lucky, punk?' cause the downside wouldn't be pretty.

Nicely done Brizzy, lots of effort, but I wonder if you've put too much credit on Livo, ADL and Houla?? They're hardly enticing trade bait.

Sure, if someone came to the table with an offer for Lance or Stevo that involved a top 15 pick - take it, but I can't see it happening. We'll be happy with 1,17,18 and what looks to be a handy PSD #1.

I'd hang onto Harts and Rusty for another year or two and include them in the future. Hartlett is big and getting bigger and will fit nicely in the back half once fit.

My concern is with Fish and Waite who've shown glimpses but keep coming up short. To trade Waite would be a sin given his old mans history - surely football romance is still alive in the dark corners of the halls and change rooms??

I would have traded Whitnall last year and see him still as reasonable trade bait....

As for Houlihan being worth a second rnder..be lucky if you got a 4th rnder on a good day......with soft play ie Josh Hunt, Ben Davies etc being highlighted each week and players under more scrutiny for being weak it only devalues players like Houlihan who are already pidgeonholed..

We missed the boat on both of them along with Campo....
You might get something for Bryan and Deluca as ruckmen are higher currency but as for the rest of the fringe group..forget it...worthless..

Not so keen on trading Stevens....only if it was a mega deal and a big win for us...he isnt in career best form and clubs would devalue him and offer us less than normal top market value...
Some of the donkeys on this site would have traded Fev to Richmond last season when his form was down and got bottom market price as well....silly to sell an asset when its not worth its max potential value...

Longmuir, Chambers, Saddington are all duds and I wouldnt be giving pick 65 away for this type of player...rather gamble on another U18 kid or a SANFL/WAFL/QAFL youngster...

Is Lance captaincy material?

no, but there's no one better than him available for now, we're just going to be have to be patient and wait 3-5 more years until murph is ready to take the reins.

Lance is captain material, if people here have actually seen him not only on the field but at training like I have you will see him telling people what to do, where to be, gives advice all session you will see he is the best candidate to take over. Everyone looks up to Lance.
