It's more than by association KK.

Kouta could have ordered his manager to shut his trap from day 1. He didn't. He's had plenty of chances to do so since then but he hasn't. The only reason Allison's out in the media belching crap is because Kouta allows it. It's always been the case. If Kouta didn't like the way Allison was handling it he would have found a new manager many moons ago.

I'm giving Kouta the benefit of the doubt at the moment, and not passing judgement on him over this, but if it goes on too much longer, I might have to reconsider.

I've heard the same as well.
Seems that Kouta will play on next season. No details of the sum though

didn't notice these comments when Joseph was jumping to Pagan defences a week or so back.

Is Ron Joseph in the same class as Allison

Apples cf oranges.

Allison chose to discuss private negotiations in public. Unless you can show that the Club went into the press with details of its offer (unlikely).

Smorgon chose to go to the media with the plan for a coaching review and then refused to back the coach in the usual way. Club moved first. Pagan was entitled to a reply. Good sense dictates that is done through a surrogate. So Joseph replies in the media. Good for all concerned, as there is plausible deniability about Pagan's involvement. That allows both sides to save face and gracefully resolve matters. Common sense really. But Allison wouldn't get that bit.

That is definitely contrary to the interests of the club. Having its internal issues exposed to the media increases the negative publicity directed at the club (which is the weapon that Allison uses of course). That is likely to dissuade sponsors and financiers from getting involved. You don't hear too many details of negotiations of any other player being discussed in the media. Wonder why?

Easier to keep Lance/Kouta/ and Campo if we could than make calls for the future and work harder with a blueprint into the future for memberships.

Piss weak!

I don't mind him playing on another year and maybe we could play him as lose man in defence on base payments and trade Lance  (he wouldn't be any slower). But giving him more than $200,000 is a joke after what he's taken home in the past five years.

And Allison is still winning by doing his work through the media and this board is just reactionary.

Stuffed up by keeping Whitnall as well.

If he is going to stay we need to build in a massive marketing component to his package - attendance with corporates, functions and more and more to recoup costs and build support etc etc.

We also would need to lobby to get a home game for the last game in 2007 and market the bejesus out of a swag of memorabilia etc etc to cash in. If you'd want an idea of what should be done, imagine what Colonwood will come up with when Buckley retires.

He might be finished as a player but he still retains plenty of cachet with supporters across the country and we must mine this effectively.

Just announced on SEN, a "major announcement" will be made today in the Bert Numa room at 11:30am. Kouta and Malouf will be in present. Wonder what that can be?

Yes Kouta will sell 15 jumpers with 43 on the back next year.

the club is dreaming....

.. and completely out of touch.

They should be projecting Walker/Murphy/Fevola /Kennedy etc and telling us that this is the beginning of a new daen and era not clingging desperately to the past .. telling us more of the same is in store..

Absolute clowns in spinning publicity for excitement.

There is a new Carlton in the air... with a new bunch of gun players...Tell us all about it you fools!!!

For the first time in a long long time, I agree with Sailorman.

Kouta, as much as I love you, it would be the wrong choice to go on next year. Hope if you do, you really make an impact next year as it will get nasty.

As for marketing Walker, Murphy, Kennedy, Fev, Blackwell, Betts, etc ..... you bet. They are our future now and should be putting them out into the members faces.

Concerned with our clubs direction ... yep, really concerned.

I realise who the new faces of the club should be etc, I am simply saying there are ways to try and recoup a bad investment.

I'm also sure that outside the rabid environs we habitate that people do respect the man and would 'buy in' to marketing in some form if managed properly.

He should not be marketed as the face of the club however, rather, the last premiership player, past champ etc etc.

It'd be a damn sight better than sitting on our balls and complaining they hurt.

Besides the point that Kouta is not up to it anymore. and wont be as good next year aged 34 as he was once.
And that the club is pathetic in clingging onto him not to lose memberships.

why not wait till the end of the season???

In case something happens with injury???
whats the priority with Kouta?????

there are players unsigned!!!

Just moronic!!!

Its as if were re signing a gun footballer and its a priority because he might get poached by another club .

Hard to get your head around these people.

I bloody hope so.

I will be might pissed off if they extend his contract.
We don't need him anymore.
He gives us nothing and is a liability on the field.

Doubt it, otherwise Pagan would be there and not Malouf.
