Never minded Harry Camel, thought right to the end he gave us value.

You will see Kouta in the forward line alot more next year.

Any idea on what constitutes being worthy of "performance"...?

Being able to kick over a jam tin - he just scrapes in with that one :? .

I actually hope he doesn't play forward. He can't make distance or accuracy from 35m out - why would we put him in there??

I reckon a relief for the young blokes at clearances only and to stay out of the F50.

Harry was the beginning of the "me" attitude.
Elliott stupidly gave him an extra year to repay him for his service to the club.
Harry then had the hide to hit the club for long service after he'd finished. :?
He is the epitomy of the selfish attitude that existed in the late 90s.

A player with these limitations yet we pay him about 5% of our TPP.
List management hey. :?

I have no issue with Kouta re-signing. I still think he is of value to the club and depending on where and how many games we play him in 2007, he could prove to be a great buy.

I would rather pay Kouta that amount than Jonathan Hay.

Can't say I'm over the moon with the re-signing. Despite what Denis says I don't think he will be rested here and there. I expect more of the same with Kouta not being rotated enough and becoming a liability to the side rather than an asset - similar to how Stevens is managed!!

Can't we rest him in the Bullants for 21 weeks of the season like we did with Teague after his contract extension?

While everyone has a right to an opinion, DUC, do you honestly think he is of value to the club on the field?

His game against the Hawks was terrible and I'm sure he has played some shockers this year as well.

This probably one of the more gutless decisions that the club has made.
Synbad is right about marketing.
We should be pumping up the kids and getting there faces on every Carlton promotional scheme that we can.
Who wants to see a bung knee, 34 year old Kouta promoting the club anymore?
I don't.
I want to see guys like Brendan Fevola, Andrew Walker, Marc Murphy, Josh Kennedy, Eddie Bettes, Brad Fisher etc etc as the face of Carlton.

I'm absolutely filthy with this decision.

Plenty of rubbish to delist before we get to Kouta. Not the worst on our list by a long way.

And that's why those players you are referring to will be given the chop at the end of the year.

Chambers, Sporn, Prender, Longmuir etc etc

Especially when everyone here wants to trade all our experienced players.

I like this point.

How many of you here are filthy with this decision -- but also want to trade Stevens and/or whitnall at the end of the year?

A mass exodus of experienced players would guarantee that we get slaughtered next season.

Great news!...

And terrific that he was able to accept the 200k contract for the club...

I hope it shows some of you that he is willing to put the club first, he loves carlton and he will be a very handy player for us next year and will help our growing young team have a better year next year...

Big statement. I'd rather pay Brett Backwell and Sam Cranage than Jonathan Hay.

What a shambles of a club!!!! Kouta doesn't want to be upstaged by Hird and Archer who will announce that they will continue.

My dear captain, you are not even worthy of shining these players boots, let alone continuing on next year. Call it a day, for goodness sake. Five years too late.

Give your spot up for some younger talent. $300k as reported by some on this site for next year. Are we serious!!!!

This is unfathomable!!!!

Instead of re signing kouta , seeing we would be approx about 500k under the 92.5% ( given what we saved on judas mark 11 last year). We should give the players like Lappin, stevens, deluca, wiggins, french, mclaren, bannister, waite, mgrath, houla, all a 50k pay rise for their fantastic fearless approach, putting their bodies on the line week in and week out ( think not ). then that would leave us enough money another 7.5% of the salary cap to pickup some one decent in the psd. Get with the programme you guys kouta is of more value to a list as young and inexperienced as ours than some of you would know. I do not know whether the ages you guys put up on you profiles are correct
but at times i wonder whether the constant negative posts about CFC you guys put up with out one incling of what it takes to develop young players are being sent from a ABC learning centre Chat Room.

Who said he accepted 200K?

GWS and Kaplan have both said that he was given 300K/315K.

Given that you lot are due to axe some players yet still are required to pay the 92.5% minimum, it makes sense to sign Kouta on a 1 year deal.

In a year when the draft talent is labelled as "super" and going deep into the 3rd round, like most clubs, Carlton will load up on kids. This means that plenty on your list will be starting a 2 year fixed rookie contract, in the middle of one, or in their first contract off one.

Without signing the likes of Kouta, you may not be anywhere close to the 92.5% mark. Unfortunately the competition we're in makes all clubs pay for players that at some point, they don't really need or necessarily want.

ADP I know your supporters are always grateful and have a lot of respect for your club greats but considering the position weve been in the last few years a large chunk of our supporters (actually more like a loud minority) prefer to shit on the greats of the club and try to force them out...

It's kinda like a good mate who talks shit behind your back... To my understanding, Kouta has signed for basically the same money he was offered (200k) and is putting the club first... The selection panel have him in their plans for 2007 and he has been swayed to continue on for next year...

Good luck to Kouta and make 2007 a great year!... :)
