It's surprising no-one has mentioned the possibility of Barry Mitchell being appointed, as he has done well with the Bullants over the last three years. I don't know much about Harvey, but I would've thought Mitchell would have similar claims to the role should Pagan depart.

Having said all that, it's hard to imagine Pagan going unless a benefactor is going to stump up $1.5 million, or Pagan is so loyal to his assistants, and resigns because they've been given the flick.
Mitchells the man I want too, but if your going to get a new coach, you go through a process, one of them is interviewing a num,ber of candidates. Mark Harvey being on of them. Mitchell's my choice but I'm happy with the idea of Mark Harvey. I've got no bias against the Bombers like some others on here, just want th best person available.

When discussing who might be the next coach in waiting at Carlton, Caro on White Line Fever the other week scoffed when Mitchells name was raised which I thought showed a bit of ignorance. She seemed surprised that his name would even be associated with a senior coaching job. Caro lost points with me when she did that.
Mitchell knows all the kids' strengths & weaknesses and has the guts to throw them around and give them the opportunity to perform in different roles. Seems very imaginative and obviously gets 100% efforts from his squad.

See Budzy you made the mistake of assuming Caro actually knows anything about football.

Mark Harvey would be my prefered choice for our next coach if he was available but I think Mitchell would be very good also. Harvey helped develop the scum's list to make it the powerhouse it was from 99-2001 after they had all but been written off in 98. Freo seem to have finally taken that extra step this year now too with Harvey involved. Harvey has all the credentials and we would be foolish not to look at him.

Some people here over estimate Harvey and possibly under estimate R.Shaw.

Harvey isn't the only new influence at Freo....

Sheedy and Malthouse were Tigers, Parkin and Mathews were Hawks. As long as they have the heart in the job it doesn't matter where they are from.

Would be interesting to ask David Parkin after all these years where his heart lies...Navy Blue or Brown & Gold.

The thought of an Essendon* guy in charge of Carlton doesn't do much for me, but if he's he best person for the job then Harvey it is.

Here's where the last 30 or so premiership coaches played their footy:

Fitzroy/Sydney
Collingwood
Hawthorn
Hawthorn
Hawthorn
Richmond
North Melbourne
North Melbourne

North Melbourne
Hawthorn
Richmond
Richmond
Richmond
Hawthorn
Hawthorn
St Kilda
St Kilda
Carlton

Personally, I don't care WHERE our next premiership coach comes from.

Parko admits he's a Hawthorn man.

Love to see Voss involved but he said on radio at the weekend he wants a year or two in the media before perhaps looking at coaching ... could change if a nice offer came along though.

I like Voss too but to me its apparent he will be the next Brisbane coach after Matthews..he will get the job after the media stint without going through the assistants apprenticeship...Riccuito will be the same..the Crows job will be his when he wants it.......

I would be approaching Voss now to see if there was any window of opportunity before he gets settled into the media....

Thats a good suggestion Elwood Blues 1........Mark Ricciuto. Not interested in these hacks that have been around the block a million times. We need a fresh start with a fresh face.If ya cant get Voss,Ricciuto wil be a more than adequate replacement. Both are born leaders.

Um ! Ah !...........whats the question.Dont bother answering coz it doesnt matter. You sound like a guy without adventure who wouldnt dream of getting off the main road.Play it safe.
I remember the father of modern day CFC George Harris being described as a madman coz he had the vision to go and get an untried coach by the name of Ron Barassi.I reckon Michael Voss is the modern day Ron Barassi. And i reckon Brisbane is the modern day Melbourne. And i also reckon Leigh Mathews is the modern day Norm Smith. The parallels are eerily similar.I actually reckon history repeats itself and i reckon it could be done all over again.Voss with his pure will and strength of character is exactly what this club needs.

Harvey is indeed an over rated Bogan.

Friends who also happen to support Essendon* say we would be mad to take him, they even don't want him there.

Theres plenty of Essendon* supporters that cant wait to see the back of Sheedy and who also dislike Harvey with a passion.

Im hoping that our next coach is a Carlton person.

Im not 100% sure by any means, but I do lean towards the thought that after Denis is gone we will be coached by a former Carlton player.

Denis might possibly depart before the end of the 2006 calendar year, but I think it more likely that he will hang around for at least another season.

I cant wait until he goes, not because I dislike him especially, but because that is when things start to really change for the better for us.

The new coach reaps the harvest sewed by Pagan.
