I love how you blokes reckon it is some sort of plan that you have done so poorly this season.

Beat Collingwood or take the pick?

I reckon you're trying to placate your embarassment by somehow pretending you have a choice.

I luv how Collingwood think they are a chance for the flag and how they think Dale Thomas is better than Marc Murphy.....they would be better if they recruited some players who could run straight at the football instead of turtlenecking..ie Davies, Buckley and Rocca.....
We need the picks, Collingwood can have their 10 mins of fame...

Unfortunately for Collingwood their 10 mins of fame is limited to nightclub and car park incidents in the early hours of the morning.

Essendon* didn't seem to have too much trouble.

The Pick.

Not just for this years draft but for the "insurance" if we win < 4 games next year.

Isn't that what you guys did in 2005 to get that scruffy haired kid in Thomas?

Shocking how you guys didn't get pinged for cheating the system.

Back on topic - this is ridiculous thread - we have no control over whether we win or lose or we would be looking at a 3 Peat Premiership this year.

Humpers what's the deal with regards to next year if we win less than 4 games?

If we end up with 16 competition points or less at the end of next season we will get a PP before the first round (i.e picks #1 and #2) providing we don't win any more games this year.

The AFL changed the PP rules at the end of last year.

1st choice is a draw, 2nd choice = win, consolation prize for losing = pick 17

Thanks Humpers. I love how the rules keep changing so that we miss out and everyone else - Melbourne and Collingwood specifically, benefit from it.

I don't think we have a choice folks. The Pies are v. ordinary, but a fair way ahead of us and have something to play for. Our attitude the last few weeks after the Melbourne game has been ordinary. And if we go through this awful season and miss #1 draft pick and the PP after round 1, it will make a shocking season worse. I've conceded for the year....and the year after that...roll on 09 - new coach - 7 or 8 gun draft picks and the current crop on 50-100 games, might be able to enjoy the footy again.

Go for the win, which we won't get so we will get the pick anyway, still try and win.

Geez, when I read the subject line about downing Pies, I thought this was yet again another post about Lance. Anyway, Kay Sera Sera! What choice do we Space Cadets have? Pago Pago will no doubt be eyeing off the extra Pick. There I've said it. :P

Play for the win.... there is nothing better then singing the song so loud after the final siren and your week feeling good in footy terms. I don't want the spoon at all.

Win at all costs.

Having said that, we won't win anyway.

we need to try our best to win this game simply so we can avoid the embarrassment of back-to-back spoons and 3 in 5 years not to mention the bragging rights pies supporters will have until we play thema gain next year, i dont think pick 18 or whatever we're going to get is more important than avoiding a spoon and i cant see us winning 4 or less games next year to get the priority pick before round 1. still i dont think we have any choice in the matter as the pies are simply a better team than us atm but we need to bust our gut in trying to win this, you never know maybe percentage could come into the equation too if the bummers cop a couple of hidings.

Yep, one thing about losing a lot is that when we do win, we can belt that song with extra gusto. That's why I want us to win - so we can sing the song with extra gusto three times a year for the next ten years.

Phyrric victories - you just can't beat em, eh stokesy?
