Anyone able too give a basic answer into how 4.2% can be made up by us or lost by Essendon* over the next two weeks so we don't finish last.

Are we talking for example if Essendon* won by 20 points and we lost by 35 points this week how far further would it blow out.

If the roles were reversed how much would we reel in?

Any guesses.

The avatar suggests maybe....just be careful of what you might find "down below".....??

(Very Roughly)

Firtsly...
we either both have to lose...or both win. (see blonde reference)

Assuming we both lose......

If we lose by 2 (cummulative over 2 weeks) point and they lose by about 120points

Or assuming we both win...the reverse is true
We win by about 120 over the next two and Essendon* wins by only 2

If we win one and they don't we are 15th, if they win one and we don't.....

If we are competetive with both our last games (3 goals) ans they get spanked by Richmond and the Frogs by 80+ points, it's theirs.

We all must pray now.

The AFL site has a pretty cool predictor which allows you to choose 12, 30 and 60 point margins or draws for upcoming games.

If we were to lose our next two by 12 points each and Essendon* lost their next two by 60 points each, we would still be bottom, but by just 0.3%.

It's not just the margins though. It's the total points scored in the game that affects %

To put it in more complex terminology, if you lose by a greater percentage than what your current percentage is, your percentage will decrease. Conversely, if you lose by a smaller percentage than what your current percentage is, your percentage will increase. Switch it for wins.

Or another way to look at it: Assuming points against is around 2200 at end of season, 4.5% of 2200 is about 100 points ... so we have to make up about 100 points diff compared with Essendon* to improve our percentage by 4.5%.
