Andrew Walker is the turnover king.

and when he was running into the open goal about 35m out in the last quarter on sunday i think everyone in the stadium knew he wouldn't get near it (it didn't even make the distance and was rushed through for a point).
or the beautiful spoil right back into the goal square for a richmond goal. no thanks.

Fevola should be the next captain, and Whitnall vice.

Walker has improved though, he is more reliable than he used to be. I'm sure once we have a plan to repel the ball from defence there will be less mistakes, too often people running out of defence with no one to kick to and are forced to stop and go sidewas which causes turn overs no matter how good you are by foot.

exactly, dont get me wrong, i dont blame him for trying, and he definately is improving, but his disposal leaves a lot to be desired, and again, dont get me wrong, he certainly isnt the only one but unfortunately the way he plays exposes his shortcomings more than other players.

at least he is getting the pill i guess.

Fevola also. He is the only one with big enough balls, inspirational ability and a leader's chin.

If any of you saw Walker bake Fev for not manning up after a point was scored last week against Richmond then you saw a guy with more leadership in him giving it to a guy with less. I don't necessarily think Walker should get it but at the same time neither should Fev.

As Sigfried said - Fev should have been doing what he has done this year for a lot longer to deserve leading the club.

Applying that logic means Whitnall is out, because he hadn't been able to prepare himself as would be expected of a professional footballer until this year. Which leaves you with Stevens, hmm no thanks. Give it to Fev

I'd ask Kouta to stay on as captain for his last year and make the decision on the next leader before 2008.

It amazes me how high people set the bar for Fevola and yet will accept alot less from alot of other players without a whimper. Everyone against Fevola for captain always points to the body language and the 1%ers - yet in my opionion he is MILES ahead in comparison to our current captain.

Lance and Stevens are uninspired, safe, conservative choices (and I fully expect the club to go down this path).

If it was up to me, I would take the risk and give it to Fev. He desperately wants it, he already leads on the field, and he is without question inspirational. Take a risk Blues!!!

I would think there are question marks against the only 2 possible candidates.Fevola and Whitnall.

Stevens is no candidate IMO.

The solution is to have both as co captains.I think they both provide different aspects to the table.

The trouble with Fev is the man is the textbook tortured genious. This season the ratio has been 20% tortured : 80% genious, but over his career it has been roughly 50:50. That's why he was almost delisted at one point in his career but will win the Coleman this year. That's why he was signed for a small fotune mid-season last year, and by the end of the year half of us wanted the board sacked over that contract and the guy traded.

Now that he seems to have gotten the balance right, I wouldn't do anything to risk upsetting it - and that includes giving him the captaincy. Just leave Fev to do what he does best. Kick goals. Because as Aka reminded everyone this year, everyone loves a tortured genious .... as long as they're still a genious. But the minute those sorts of players stop producing on the field, no one wants a bar of them.

Sensational post MM! I agree completely.

He is the only player we have who has any onfield presence.

Understant what you're saying Nightcrawler, but I believe alot of this dissatisfaction with him is a little unfair. No doubt his body language etc could have been better, but I think he's one of these players that can have one bad moment in a game and people dwell on it endlessly. Purely because its Fev.

Don't forget in 2004, in one of his so-called maligned years, we won 10 games off the back of his brilliance.

If there was a genuine stand out alternative, I would opt for them, but to me that alternative is Marc Murphy and he is still a few years away. So in the interim I would go Fev. I don't think we have anything to lose. And at the very least we will have an inspirational captain again.

Lets be safe and have more of the same.

Lance as captain... mister inspiration!!!... amazing leadership qualities and professionalism.

My guess is it will be Kouta again..... Lance or Kouta???

does it matter???

Its just more of the same.

Walkz isnt captain material yet.

Murph???

Well Gibbs might be even more captaincy material eh??? :-D

For mine.. id take the high risk high rewards route.. and thats Fev.

Because your highest returns in investment are made with your more speculative investments.

And high returns are what we need.
