So is this the end for Chris Bryan? Being dropped with two meaningless weeks to go is a bad, bad sign and despite some good work he didn't do enough in any of his senior games to really nail a spot. We have about 4 undersized average ruckman - Bryan, McLaren, De Luca and Prenda. McL and ADL are contracted next year? and anyway I reckon McL is a bit more versatile than Bryan. Prenda has been crucified by the coach, no opportunities last two years and unluckily injured this year. I know his faults but still think he has something to offer. I can't see Bryan remaining next year after being dropped this week.

pagan needs to have a one-on-one chat with bryan at the end of the year before he delists him. IMO he has to ask him whether he'll pull his head in and try his heart out to be a player for this club, if bryan commits then we give him a one-year contract and see how he goes. i think he ahs got amazing talent and it would be a shame if he couldn't realize it. he could be a very valuable player to our club so we have to give him one FINAL chance IMO.

I disagree, Bryan's new level of work ethic is promising.

I'm with Jimmae..as a ruck combination French and Bryan have been our best....he didnt deserve to be dropped and hasnt been given a fair go.
I think his work ethic has got better as has his ruckwork..its another atrocious decision by a match committee and coach who make selections out of desperation rather than having any real plan....

Chris Bryan is nowhere near the worst player on our list.

He's 24....25 next March....198cm and 105kg; and worth his spot on the list.

It says a lot about our list.

Very true, but the last month or so has shown that Bear might just WANT to make it. Early on he lacked intensity, and you didn't have to be a brain surgeon to notice. His recent efforts have been MUCH improved. He got his hands on the ball today a lot and did some decent ruck work.
The question is, has he left his run too late? Has he shown enough?
God knows we need a class ruckman, whch is something I don't think Bear will ever be. But, especially if we are waiting for Kreuzer in next year's draft, will we be tempted to hold on for 1 more year?

A one year contract incentive based is fitting for Bear....

i think he still has something to offer.... shows strength in the air but needs to work on his ruckwork...

And you cant forget his kicking... bombed two sensational kicks today. One for goal bout 55-60 out which went straight through the guts and the other from the kick in, basically put it in the middle of the ground....

we've hung in there with Houla

we've hung in there with Wiggo

we've hung in there with Setanta

and..

we've hung in there with Lance!!!

Bryan deserves another year, at least

Yep - there's issues with work ethic but I reckon I've seen him putting more in, and maybe it was about finding a way for Bower to get a go more than anything else, or team balance or whatever, but we're not an overly tall team and when his confidence is up, he can start doing exactly what Richmond did to us last week all game long, booting it in long in to the square for a Vinnie Waite special or a Fevarama!

He should stay!

Bryan was as stiff as anything to be dropped.

He should of been the late inclusion as well, not Deluca. Bryan has more positives to his game then Deluca.

Very Very disappointed with Bryan being dropped.

Oh ....I'm certainly flummoxed that anyone can possibly think that Prendergast has been crucified in the slightest. Prendergast for all his efforts has been lucky to be on an AFL list for at least half of that time.

I believe he was dropped so that we have less of a chance to win, re priority pick we NEED. We have gone in with French as our only ruckman

Bryan responded well in the bullants yesterday, he showed the most application i have seen from him yet.

I think he will be retained.
