One bow too long there I reckon Synbad.

Lance may not be our best player, he may not be the best fit for the club, and like some others may be better suited to a different team, a different time, a different era.

But to suggest that Lance has spent 9 years doing nothing (ie your Costanza analogy) is ridiculous.

Lance has run out for our club 200 times, and regardless of what we think should happen at the end of the season, he's here for at least 2 more games and there's not a @#$%&! thing you, or I, or Mrs Whitnall can do about that.

So before you answer a post like this along the lines of:
Quote:
"That's right!!!!! Lance is the future!!!!! Kouta should have signed a 5 year deal!!!!

Is that what you're saying hammer??????

Our board is great!!!! We have so much cash, and it's all thanks to Lance!!!!

You're thinking about the present! The present becomes the future!!! And then what???

think about your suggestion that Lance has done nothing for this football club over the time he's spent here.

Give the bloke due credit for serving this club for 200 games, regardless of what you think should happen at the end of this season (or should have happened 5 years ago). See, that would be your good self living in the past.

For what it's worth, I actually agree with you about Lance's ongoing value to the team and lack of a role, but I'm not going to begrudge him the pride of fronting up for game 200 for this club.

He isn't free falling, he's swan diving into a pool of chocolate fudge at his local Dairy Bell with his mouth wide open.

Why is it more ridiculous than your posts on Stevens???

Lance plays a free man... week in week out.
Lance played his best footy in a great Carlton side when he had Hamill along side of him and a dominant midfield (that midfield made alot of players look good including JMurphy and Campo...

Lance plays nothing roles at the moment. He is no frontliner... he doesnt take matches by the horns or pave the way for the kids to take the lesser forwards.
If you watch him play he takes alot of short cuts and is a seagull....

His body is packing up after a pretty good first 10 games to the season.. he is around 5 kgs heavier than he was back then... and his game has just fallen away.
he cant play a full season at high level and some people think he would be a great captain???

Lance would have been a tremendous footballer in the 70s.. right now he is a mirage.

can i say its really weird to find you here... i fully expoect to see you in the talking players forum and the stevo thread in particular...

thats where you do your bows...

Ah, I thought you might argue what you chose to read rather than what I wrote.

How is it different to what I write on Stevens?

Did you read my post?

Did I actually have a go at your opinioon of Lance, or a desire to trade him? On the contrary! (!!!! if you need them) I actually agree with you!

What I disgree with (and think is ridiculous) is your anaolgy of Lance doing nothing for this club, and your lack of any recognition of a bloke playing his 200th game.

You can do nothing but put your case for Lance to be traded at this time, and good on you. You've stuck to your guns for 3 years while many of us change like the wind.

But how is it different to Stevens?

I've not said Nick has done nothing for this club (just that he won't ever play his best footy for us). Stevens has been here 5 minutes, he's not about to line up for his 200th. And I've definitely not said that Stevens works on the Pinsky file.

So argue with what I wrote. Not with what you want to read.

(!!!!!!!! ???????? ........... !!!!!!!!!!! use these as you see fit)

Im not sure what youre saying when youre hairsplitting like that hammer.

All im saying is Lance comes to play but he isnt actually doing anything.... i might be wrong but last week i saw a guy (one of two in the second half playing loose) and he backs himself... he backs himself to the ball if the forward doesnt mark it.. or it flies of a pack.. and sometimes because he has no responsibility he runs forward...

Because were so bad the opposition coahes dont mind... they know Lance might kick a couple but they direct their plays through where he should be ... and they dont mind it going the other way because theyre not about to lose..

on the other hand there are kids that are having to play accountable roles week in week out.. having any creativity smashed out of them.

at training he is first off each training session.. and NEVER stays back .

Lance is in charge of the Pinsky file....(thats the way i see it)

We are playing him in a role that should make him look good for opposition coaches... except were the ones fooled....

how dumb are we???

Hammer.. im not impressed by numbers.. im impressed by REAL worth...

OK, I'll spell it out.

You're claim that Lance is pretending and acting as a footballer is really disrepectful to a 200 game player.

He's not our future, sure. But it's nothing like my Stevens talk at all

Thank god these decisions are made by people that actually know what they are talking about and actually have the facts to prove them. These are the people that will make Lance captain.

The same people that give the kids five minutes off the bench and recruited all of those experienced campaigners?

I'm off to Baghdad for a week for some R & R.

I wasn't referring to you italian, it was to Synners post - I agree with BH I think its just vindictive to assert lance is not a footballer. He is, a 200 gamer. I do not care how crap we are, he has played 200 ganmes of league football - not a bad effort i reckon for a bloke the game has passed by.

Im not being disrespectful to Lance.

The way i see it he does FA!!!...

Just watch his ACTUAL role....

And styles.. those same people that make decisions have brought to you just in the past year... Saddington McLaren And almost handed us ove rKnobel and Spriggs...and wanted to trade Fevola....

So if i were you i wouldnt make them guardians of your life...

There are kids that bust a gut and get run into the ground so blokes like Lance and Kouta can play football in our side .

There are kids that will deserve a game that wont play next year because Lance and Kouta will be in a side and they wont be pulling their weight .

Lance is finished.. the game is too fast for him and in a game situation his eenergy goes into running short cuts.

The short cuts he is taking are more extreme now than they were 12 weeks ago....
the short cuts he will attempt to take in 8 months will be more extreme than the ones he is attempting now.

Lance spends the whole day trying to create angles to play football because he cant play todays football in a conventional manner.

Thats not being disrespectful because thats what he does....

Thats just what happens to footballers when they can no longer hack it.

Its a demanding game isnt it???

Just watch Lance on and off the ball... HE actually puts MORE pressure on those around him .

Its actually the Penske file i think J...

I am in New Zealand at the Hotel in Wellington and on TC. How great is life. For ever and a day we are stuck with Lance because we will get little for a trade now.I know he has had a great season but I do concur with many of Synbads thoughts.I also believe he needs to play in attack with Waite possibly being tried at CHB. His season has tapered off.

saying the game's changes have impacted on Lance (etc) is different to saying he never could play. Even you at one stage defended him Synners (as C.G. loved pointing out to us all - though as H.E Hinton (?) once said That was Then This is Now). I think people can handle the queries over him now (to differing degrees I'll admit) but to suggest he could never play was simply wrong.

It's like the simplisitc argument Walker can't kick. He can. He hits targets, kicks goals etc, The discussion should be is he hitting them often enough - or when is he mostly likely to miss a target etc. But most people are lazy when they argue, take the extreme position (call themselves a diety?) to make their point seem the correct one.

There are reasons Lance has been kept - and those reasons change from season to season. The discussion is - are those points more important to this club at this point in time than the reasons for trading him?

More fruitful than hack/champion debates that get nowhere.

If we are a slice of Carlton then perhaps we are a reflection of just what is wrong with this club. If we argue from extremes, take delight in belitting anyone or anything that takes a different view, always take the extreme position, see everything in black and white then we should not be surprised that nothing is resolved in our discussions - we are not trying to resolve them to a point where we see the points and evaluate (with the possibility of change). We are trying to be right - eg Tanking v not tanking. - its all cake and eat it too crap.

I hope the club is not the same as this site, I hope it is far more reasonable - if it the same then we we are [REDACTED]!

See? There's the confusion. If you're referring to CG, then the word, I believe, is deity. It's only in a Lance thread, that it comes out as diety...... (Is that what you call a Freudian slip??)
