Haven't they been saying that there are quite afew KPP coming through the ranks in the coming drafts and that this will ultimatly sway the game back to the way it was??...I'm shore i read it somewhere..

2003 draft-pick 6 k.bradley
2004 draft- pick 2. j roughead, pick 5.l franklin
2005 draft-pick 4.j kennedy, pick 5.s pendlebury

yes, there are way more midfielders but KPP arent as rare as everyone thinks.

anyway im off to the game.

Pendlebury?

I have a radical proposal.
Lets just take the best player.

its way too early to judge pendlebury, obviosly he's done something right to be drafted at 5, at this stage kennedy has doen nothing more than himwe all know he will but atm he hasnt.

Carltons midfield is shit. The worst in the league. And with young guys being thrown in there with disposal as bad as Andrew Walker and Andrew Carazzo, Carlton definitely need elite midfield talent to go with Marc Murphy.

Carlton will take Gibbs without a doubt.

Walker's disposal under pressure today vs Collingwood was excellent.

if people dont know the value of a good midfielder with good delivery then the value of Murphy and gibbs now is understated

Interesting stat

the Player with the most goal assists i think who hit Fev with a perfect pass was 16 for Murphy even in only half a season

Before this game the next best was simmo with 15 goal assists

Then players like Scotland 3rd highest possesion getter before todays game think only had 7 or 9 goal assists

We need to add to murphy so that with a core midfield of Murphy / simmo / stevo / gibbs

Second string would be Bentick / Blackers / houla / carrots

Unknows with smith / Jackson / Russell and any other new kid we pick up

The midfield starts to show some options and potential

The others may never be in that league, and Franklin was seen as a risk (not 100% on that).

Talented KPP tb, not just any top 10 KPP.

well the only other talented KPP are:

scarlett: F/S
brown: F/S
tredrea: gifted to port
hall: pick 18 back in 95
cornes: 2nd rounder i think

i was just listing the top picks because that is what the debate is about who we should use our top pick on not if we can draft a KPP under the father son or something.

Lots of rumours but the latest for what it is worth is that it is a choice between Hansen and Gumbleton for the Blues. Both are seen as giving us a key position defender/forward and the basis of a long term spine. However I think that the draft camp will tell us a lot more.

That's music to Carlton supporters ears, if his disposal held up in a game like that his confidence will grow tenfold..

Walks just has to try and not kick the ball at a million miles an hour from my observations, just gets too excited/nervy. With experience he will compose himself more when kicking.. He will be silky in the long run...

yep exactly my thoughts, he makes it very difficult for himself to kick when he's running at full speed which for someone like tex is pretty fast and i think his decision making also makes his kicking looks worse than it is, i believe his disposal is one of the better disposals in our team and he can kick 50m with both feet, a good thing for a 20 year old to be able to do.

FWIW, I would do GIBBS in the National, and go after Polak in the Pre-season (pending sanity-check, and pending someone better being available)

De-list a lot of players

sack Pagan

TOO EASY

If they feel adventurous, trade Whitnall and/or Stevens and/or Houlihan.

Otherwise, drop Gibbs onto a half-back flank, rotating in the middle, and they may as well just cancel the 2007 season and hand us the cup.

NO NO NO NO NO

THIS is the master plan:

Get Hansen at #1. Trade into the late first round, early second round via Whitnall. Use picks 17, 19 and PickWhitnall to get three good (maybe not great, but GOOD) mids. There's your freakishly talented versatile big man for the next decade, and a midfield rotation of murph, simmo, walker, stevens, perhaps betts, AB, Blackers, houlihan, carrots, PLUS your three mids from the 06 Superdraft.

Get rid of Pagan.
