There are three players in the comp that would do the trick.
Jonathon Brown,Mathew Pavlich,and Chris Judd.And maybe Chad Cornes.

I'd take Judd for pick #1 in a heartbeat. Imagine Judd, Murphy and Simpson in the midfield along with Walker, Russell and Blackwell.

Yes.

I know times are different, but we once did steal the best player in the league after a down period, and it turned the whole club around.

His name was Ronald Dale Barassi.

Not only is Judd a good player, but he's a leader. And, sure, Gibbs (or whomever) may turn out to be as good as Judd (hard to imagine anyone being significantly better)... But not immediately.

We could fast-track our development by up to three years by getting him.

And the positive press would be magnificent. Imagine - "Blues poach West Coast Captain". That'd generate some support and excitement about the place.

No. Pick 2 is Gibbs or Hansen. Walker looks like he'll be a cross between the two - a midfielder who can play KP.

And the bad-press would be too much to bear.
