For something like that to be reportable shows how soft the game has become.
The bump rule is a farce.
Players are worried about jumping off the ground which is resulting in more head clashes.
Far more dangerous.

Heath will learn to look around next time.

Agree, I would have been rapt if one of our blokes did it. In fact I would have been dissapointed if they did not do it.

I would have loved one of our guys to wrap the guy up in a tackle and give us the advantage going forward, not cheap hit a guy

While I agree with that sentiment, I was glad that it was Diddick who will get rubbed out and will miss some games including one Final and not one of our guys!

BV,

It was a hip & shoulder but my concern is that the shoulder connected with Scotland's face. If they are saying they are trying to protect players' heads then surely that should mean from anything that can do damage?

I'm also pretty sure Didak's feet left the ground which the tribunal usually frowns upon.

Didn't Houlihan get off his hip and shoulder charge when he knocked out a West Coast nuffy over in Subiaco????

Was Earl Spaldings hit on Guy McKenna a "cheap hit"?
The ball spilt free and one of our better players was forced from the field.
Good. Tough. Footy.

Baggers, Houlihan's defence was that he was going for the contested ball with Rosa & braced himself.

In Didak's case Scotland had the ball & he could have tackled him.

I am not surprised. Put the shoe on the other foot everyone. If Whitnall had of cleaned up Didak in the same way we all be saying "nup, fair bump".

Lets just hope Glen Archer beats the living shit out of him this week.

If we were 2 games away from playing finals and red did that, I would have said IDIOT for doing something so stupid to get pinged.

What about the headbutt?

I reckon the Didak one's a fair enough decision though it almost could have swung the other way. The difference between reckless and not reckless isn't a line. The problem with instances like this is that they fall in the grey area. Didak could have connected with Scotland 5mm across from where he did and Scotland may have ridden the bump; it just depends exactly where you cop it. Always amazes me when two players hit heads and one's still chasing the ball and the other's out cold.

Good to hear Fev got off. That one was laughable.

That's an interesting comparison BV. Still get goosebumps when I see that bump but given McKenna's head was over the ball I wonder how many weeks Earl would have got under the new regime.

No leadership at Collingwood. When young Cloke hurt his shoulder whilst being tackled, absolutely no-one from Collingwood went up to Walker to fly the flag and have a go at him.

Can one of the mods change the title of this thread to "wuz" from "were"?

Didak should have got a week...as Nathan Buckley said in an article last week that you have to protect the head of the player going for the ball....
Byron Pickett or Brent Guerra would have got two to three weeks for that...Didak is perceived as a ball player and not a thug and got the benefit of the doubt as would Scotland if he was the aggressor...

Agree that Holland went down a bit too late after Banno's contact, but I still reckon Bannister will get one.

But the sooner the AFL introduces an amnesty on the likes of Holland, Milne, Farmer and Medhurst the better. Blokes should be able to deck these clowns without fear of being suspended!

I'd like to propose that Ryan Crowley be added to that illustrious grouping.

Yes he has shot up there with a bullet.....one that needs to find a home in his head!
