Will Bannister be out this week suspended?

If not he might get dropped. He made a couple of really bad decisions and showed no awareness of his surroundings.

Who would come up for him?

I would like to see Russell back in.

Is it worth Stevens returning for the last game if he is questionable?

I would rather see another player come up from the Bullants.

I would suggest that Raso or Hartlett would be the next cab off the list.

It would be a great opportunity for one of them to see the highest level of football and give them some motivation for the preseason.

Bannister got 1 week after deductions for accepting the penalty and 5 years 'good behaviour'. The club as accepted the penalty, will not contest it.

Hartlett won't come in, hasn't done enough. Raso was good last week I thought, but still not reay, you wouldn't think.

Maclaren will be pushing for a game after his 6 goals last week. Russell didn't really stand out last week. So...Bannister out for Maclaren?

Bring in Jake The Snake or Hartlett and play them for 15 minutes. We'd still get the same output as bringing in the same old fringe dwellers. Stick him on the flank and let him make mistakes and go away in the offseason knowing they had played a game and how far short of the mark they are and what it takes to get there next year.

I agree, nothing to lose.

I disagree... Bryan will get delisted and Deluca, whilst inconsistent, has been serviceable this year.

I think-

In: McLaren
Out: Banno (suspended)

I'm happy for McLaren or Russell to come in for Bannister.
I'd just like to see the kids in the side given plenty of game time. :?

Why not give Smith, Blackwell, Bower etc 80 minutes plus?

Last game of the year Denis. Take the shackles off. Give Walker a good run in the middle and resting in the forward pocket.

Dont worry about getting more kids in, JUST PLAY THE ONES THAT ARE THERE!!!!

Anything sinister in the Stevens injury? Could said injury equal Collingwood's first draft pick come November?

Or more likely still, a trade for Dean Rioli?

That's not a possibility, Orangewhip.

The Blues' medical people would know Steven's medical status intimately. He can't fool us into thinking he is medically unfit to continue playing footy. From what I have read on the internet it seems that Stevens had a problem with OP prior to returning at the start of the preseason at the end of last year. Supposedly, this problem has not resolved entirely, but he has been asked to soldier on and has been willing to do that. If this is so, his form from this year won't be held against him by us, or by any other club which is interested in him, as long as it is something that will resolve over the next few months. Any club interested in him would arrange a medical examination and would not be conned one way or the other about his physical status.

I don't know Stevens' contractual status. Is he contracted for next year anyway? If so, there is no way that Collingwood could get to him this year without doing a deal.

If he is out of contract at the end of the year, Collingwood still can't grab him like Essendon* did with Campo. We hold the ultimate trump card. If we finish bottom, we could use our first pick in the PSD to re-draft him. Given Kouta's lessened contract for next year, you'd have to think we could match any conditions that Stevens might nominate to try to scare off clubs other than Collingwood. And remember that he we are already paying him a fair whack now (albeit that may be less than his value because of the front-ended contract he signed), so we only have to come up with the difference between his present salary and his nominated conditions. That makes it a lot easier to fit him into the salary cap than it would be for other teams who have to make space for his whole salary.

Even if we had our eyes on another recruit in the PSD, I think that we would have to draw a line in the sand and pick him up in the PSD. We just can't lose a player of Stevens' ability for nothing. We have to send a message to other clubs, including Collingwood, that we won't allow a Campo strategy to work this year, so a reasonable offer has to be made during trade week. And we have to be prepared to follow through on our threat. We have to make the sort of stand that Port did, but fortunately we won't end up empty-handed like Port did. We will end up with the best player in the PSD.

If Stevens wants to go to Collingwood, then we should tell him it is up to him to persuade Collingwood to make a reasonable offer to allow this to happen. Hamill apparently told St. Kilda that he wouldn't go to them in the PSD if they refused to make a reasonable offer to Carlton in trade week. And they followed through by giving us pick no. 4. I thought it was outrageous for Campo to whinge about Carlton not allowing him to go to Essendon* for nothing. A player with his years at Carlton should have been pressuring Essendon* to offer a reasonable deal during trade week. He should have blamed Essendon* for ending up in limbo because of Essendon*'s refusal to make a reasonable offer rather than behaving like a sook. If I had been him, I would have been insulted that Sheedy thought he was worth only the likes of Bullen.

What another useless post. Now there are plots behind why players are injured. I think I have had enough.

We could have re-drafted Campo last year, but chose not to. Remember we won the wooden-spoon last year as well.
