I thought my previous boss was the best boss ever until he told me I was sacked and no longer needed. That is why I have changed my mind and now believe the boss I had before my previous boss took over is the best boss I ever had.....only because he didn't give me the flick.

Sour grapes I believe. It is hard for primed atheletes to find out they don't make the grade. Hopes and dreams are shattered and unfortunatley some lay the blame on others because they cannot see their own faults.

Mrs Caz is spot on. Any player who bad mouths the club to strangers for their own self pity doesn't deserve to be playing at Carlton or anywhere (maybe Collingwood). The Navy Blue jumper is bigger than any player.

I am looking forward to another clean out at the end of the season. There is a lot of dead wood which is holding us back and I am not talking about coaches, I am talking about players.

Remember in 1995( :?: ) when either us or someone else knocked off the Kangas when Arch and or Swarta had been rubbed out for indescretions??

DP gave them a stare of a thousand daggers as they walked up the race in their civies at the end of the game. I bet he was hated by the playing group that night ....... he took them to a flag the following year, then 2 more Prelims followed by another flag and another prelim.

Funny what a bit of hate can do for a team :? .

I hated my coach because I got left out during the finals.
The following season I won the Coaches Award. He was a top bloke that year.

I think that match was the 97 prelim.

Guys and Gals

I went to the lunch this afternoon at MC Labour Park. It was different to the one's they used to have when Brittain was coach. Pagan spoke for about 5 minutes or so, didn't take any questions, mentioned that Ryan Jackson would make his debut, that Jake Edwards would play for the Bullants tomorrow against Williamstown (although he said you can never tell if there will be an injury at training). Mentioned the 5 minutes of madness against the Pies and while it was great to fly the flag you hurt the opposition more by putting goals on the scoreboard. Body language was not great. Coutts tried hard to talk things up. Other speakers were the Dominator, he explained how he ended up running at Richmond, and gave his thoughts on where the Blues were at - said our ability to put a score on the board against the opposition this year was better than in previous years and that the foundation of a good team was there. Marc Murphy spoke as did Michael Sexton. Sexton mentioned that it was tough for T-Bird to get the Number 1 backman every week at his age and experience. When he was the same age as T-Bird he would get the 4th forward with SOS and Deany taking the tougher opponents. Wasn't a bad lunch but you could sense that there was stilll a feeling that something ain't right at the club. Last training session for some of the Boys

Murph did not say much PJ. Said he was looking forward to this week with the Rising Star Award and the B&F coming up.

I liked his sneakers.

Pagan looked like he really wanted to be somewhere else.

Wayne Johnston was pretty funny and had some nice memories of the glory days.

Michael Sexton was really well spoken. His 11 year old boy is a very passionate Carlton supporter. Michael says he knows all about the club's premierships, history etc. more than his old man knows.

He has 4 kids and one other son about 5 years old now.

The pumpkin soup was alright and the roast beef went down well. :-D

Good stuff. I hope he's aware of the father-son rule.

It's a shame that our coach can't even show some enthusiasm too be there from what is being said.

How can he complain about his marketing contract with marketing like that then?

This is just such a time too really grab the bull by the horns for the club and sell us the message of the upcoming draft period.

If it wasn't for my company, and that of Jar Jar and Hollywood and the fact BV has to endure 5 minutes of nothing from Denis I would have been bored.

I can not imagine any playing list in the AFL where all listed players love the coach. I can not imagine a playing list that lacks onfield success without mumblings in the ranks (look at the Cats).

I am actually surprised how good morale amongst the group seems to be onfield. The group is playing the games out and does not look like a group the coach has lost or drops its collective head.

While I agree that some change is needed - I think there is far too much witch hunt when it comes to Pagan.

Correct, and I think the reason for the moral being 'up' is that they understand where they are and where they're going. We are piecing together one of the most talented and youthful teams in recent memory.

Going against almost everybody on this forum, I for one can see Denis as the man to lead this young and in-experienced group up the ladder. Once they put one foot in front of the other and progress they're gonna love the crusty old bastard like a father.

Dominator mentioned in his premiership year, they had 10 players 21 or under. They also had some big stars as well. We are in a similar situation coming up next year. I get the feeling that no matter what DP said he would get knocked.

Now I am not a knocker of denbis for knocking's sake but that 'coaches luncheon' was run worse than my son's junior football club dos.

And why can't the club talk anout the draft choices, or future plans or something.

And why not ask Johnno about his kid (he certainly tried to give us an opening)

and why can't a coach at a coaches lkuncheon answer some questions?

as a club we are stuck in the old VFL days.

Shit we can't even get a decent @#$%&! mic!

I dont know Paul. The original post in this thread was as follows

paulg wrote:
There is a lunch with DP as the main speaker, at Optus Oval this friday.

I have been to a few of these and it is refreshing to hear off the record what the coach thinks.

To book call Lorraine McLean at the Club on 9389 6204.

Friday 1st September 12.30 - 2.00pm

$38.50 two (2) course inc. beer wine and soft

What "off the record" stuff did Denis share? :?
It was apparently the first "coaches lunch" they've done for the year.
"Coaches lunch"!
The coach turned up for 5 minutes, answered a couple of questions with what we'd already read in todays paper and pissed off.
It is the first one he's had to attend, he was there for 5 minutes and left us in no doubt that he wasnt remotely interested.

This is the man that recieves a six figure marketing allowance from the Carlton Football Club.

You may be happy to accept mediocrity but dont expect the rest of us to follow suit.
I believe people made the effort and paid $38.50 to go along and let Denis Pagan crap in their face.

I'm past expecting anything from the man. I went along today and had all my pre existing thoughts confirmed.
The sooner this person is out of my club, the better.

NEGATIVE , NEGATIVE, NEGATIVE. SOMETHING POSITIVE NO NOTHING BUT NEGATIVE. HO HO WHAT IS NEW. HOW ABOUT WE ASK OURSELVES WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO OURSELVES TO FIX A PROBLEM WHICH EXISTS WITHIN OUR OWN MINDS WITHOUT SEEING THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING IN CARLTON ARE ALL FOR THE BETTER AND WE ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK. I'LL PROBABLY GET ANOTHER WARNING FROM FICKLE PEOPLE BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT PAGAN AND THE BOARD IS DOING THE RIGHT JOB FOR THE CLUB AND THE ONLY ONE WITH ANY IDEA , OR MAKES ANY SENSE ON THIS THREAD.. IS THE DUKES. I MAINLY GET ON THIS SITE TO SEE WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THE MINDS OF CARLTON SUPPORTERS AND ALL I FIND IS IS NEGATIVITY TO MAMMOTH PROPORTIONS WHICH ARE DEPRESSING AND MOST OF THE POSTS ON HERE ARE FROM PEOPLE ( WHICH I VERY MUCH DOUBT ARE TRUE SUPPORTERS ) THAT ARE POOR SORRY EXCUSES FOR CARLTON SUPPORTERS. SHIT I AM IN PAIN WITH WHAT IS HAPPENING AND IT HURTS BUT WE ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK AND STOP POSTING UTTER CRAP , PLEASE GO TO THE ST KILDA WEBSITE OR SOMEWHERE ELSE.HOW ABOUT WE GET POSITIVE AND STOP BEING A BUNCH OF WANKERS.
