Fevelations - Jake Niall

A pretty good piece on Fev by Niall and I hope the positive press keeps coming.

Interesting comments about why he stayed at the Blues and who convinced him to stay.
Quote:
BRENDAN Fevola would like to see Michael Gardiner in a Carlton jumper.

"I’d be pumped," he said of the prospect of playing with the fallen Eagle. "I just think he’s got a lot to offer and I think we’re one ruckman short."

Quote:
"Denis will be there, so we don’t have to worry about that."

You’re sure about that, Brendan? "Yeah, positive. He’s got two years to go and in two years’ time, we’ll be going really well, so they’ll obviously re-sign him. He’s got his knockers, but you just wait and see in the next couple of years."

Quote:
I just thought, at the time, it might have been a good opportunity to get out and start fresh. Denis said he didn’t see the same view . . . and he said, ‘The club’s going places’, and really encouraged me, said about how everything’s going to be bright and I agree with him. Then there was no way I was going to go.

Juzzy, It must be "The Fev Week", because the Hun have also got a long interview with the Coleman Kid. 8)

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 22,00.html

Plenty of juicy stuff in this one confirms again that Pago Pago not only hasn't lost the players as some posters keep alluding; but in fact is here to stay and will continue to develop the kids into a competitive TEAM. :-D

You guys be the judge!

It's interesting; it was Denis who saved Fevola 4 years ago, but as long as Fev indorses Denis with the enthusiasm that continues to flow from his mouth - he will coach this club.

There's another article which I don't know that I like...

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 62,00.html

Quote:
As coaching murmurings continue to shroud the Blues after a likely third wooden spoon in four years, Fevola said Pagan's detractors will "eat humble pie".

"He's here obviously for another two years and I hope they re-sign him again," Fevola said.

"They say Denis is no good as a coach and whatever, but you wouldn't see the growth of the young kids.

"You've just to look at the performance of the young kids.

"All the players respect him so much.

Is this a case of Fev going into bat for his coach? Cos what springs to mind is what if we sack Pagan and Fev doesn't like it?

No worries Brizzy.
There's a long line of them this year coming out to support Pago.

In November there was Fev.
In January it was.....Fev.
When the heat was on in April it was Fev.
And now theres Fev!

This from a player who was glowing in his endorsement of Pagan last year but wanted to go to Richmond.

You see more irrelevant confirmations than the local Priest!

I'm looking at the age now, when I first saw the pic on the front page of the sports section, I thought it was Karl Norman.

Good read..

Agree... Fev's hardly likely to pot Pagan when he's auditioning for captain

wouldn't read too much into those comments

He'd be more convincing if he wasn't pushing for Michael Gardiner to come to Carlton in the same article... :?

Yes. I much prefer the 2nd or 3rd hand accounts allegedly from current players who are not getting a game and are about to be delisted. At least they aren't biased like Fev.

What has stood out the most to me about Brendan this year is the confidance he has to take a grab. He has improved tenfold in that area (contested), it was probably his biggest weakness untill this year (workrate aside). I think we know where the source of knowledge and inspiration comes from now......One John Nicholls.

Scene: The change rooms at the SCG on Sunday.

French: "Hey Fev, what's this stuff about us being a ruckman short"
Fev: "It's because you need a back-up Barney, you bust your gut every week and need some help"

Fev wipes his brow and walks across the room.

De Luca: "Hey Fev, what's this stuff about us being a ruckman short"
Fev: "Ado, mate, you are a natural forward mate, if they weren't making you ruck you would have kicked 50 goals this year"

De Luca smiles and then drops the drink he is holding.

Fev wipes his brow again and walks into the rubdown room.

Mclaren: "Hey Fev, what's this stuff about us being a ruckman short"
Fev: "D-mac ..... baby, it's like this, Barney has had it, almost retirement age, you should be number one ruck with someone supporting your hard work, You've been crucified mate!"

Fev grabs a towel to wipe the sweat from his brow.

His mobile phone rings and he answers it.

Fev: "Yo yo woddup!"
Bryan: "Hey Fev, what's this stuff about us being a ruckman short"

pause

Fev: "WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE LEAVE ME THE @#$%&! ALONE!!!!"

Which I'd be happy to accept if everyone did so. Accepting that we aren't able to draw any reasonable conclusions about the player/coach relationships seems reasonable to me. But the reality is that the agenda will be to discredit Fev's comments, but accept as gospel the whispers from unreliable sources. The unshakeable assertions that Pagan has lost the players again will not be tempered in the least, no matter how unreliable or biased the source. At least we know that Fev's comments actually were made.
