Carlton's first premiership: 100 years on

We're approaching the centenary of our first Premiership. Does anyone know if the club is planning anything to celebrate this fact.

Without harping on the marketing at the club, this is a perfect opportunity for us to create some good news stories around the place and to remind everyone that we've won more grand finals than any other club. Ever!

Get out there and sell the good news Smorgo!!!

If only numbers 6, 7 and 8 were all young kids â€¦ there'd be a nice guernsey photo opportunity acknowledging our past, while highlighting potential success for the future.

I heard the club invited each playing member of the first premiership team to Koutas ball free of charge. They have had no respsones as yet.

There was a story about a great Carlton player who has had his fair share of strife after his playing days. He was doing some courier work and he had to deliver cash from destination A to destination B. Apparently between destination A and B was destination TAB.

The article is almost ready but needs some graphic oomph - something I think you may be better at than the Club,

How impossible it would have been to play such a game anywhere else, and give the same number of people a chance of seeing the game. The new stand was open to members, and from its upper story gave a lofty birdâ€™s eye view of the play. The pressure upon the arena fence was so great at one point that finally the stout iron structure gave way, bent in, and part of the crowd spilled over it on to the turf, and formed a ring inside the boundary. A crowbar was brought to brace it up against the assault, and as it was hammered into position, the crowd chimed in tune to the strokes of the hammer, suggesting the â€˜Anvil Chorusâ€™. Everything else but football was forgotten as soon as a sudden burst of cheers told that the players were coming out â€“ that Carlton and Fitzroy were ready for the great game of the season.
