The board is currently looking into seeing if it can take the AFL to court and reclaim the lost Goddard pick... which it believes the AFL stole from us...

I kid you not...

If that's the case, can we make sure we DON'T try and get Goddard with it? Talk about another wasted pick...

Stuff Goddard and Wells, Brock Mc Lean is a superstar. Give us Brock and forget the pick for Goddard.

I think they should be congratulated for taking some sort of a stand when it was looking like they were buckling to the AFL.

Doesn't really raise my confidence in them, but it doesn't lower it either.

Better than doing nothing, or burning the place down.

Actually, does it make sense?

Because in 2003 we got AW because it was discovered the AFL did not include priority picks in the penalty.

Yet in 2002 we were denied the priority pick.

Well that was the pick we would have got coz we were shit.

Had any other club been penalised that year it would have only cost them their first, second pick etc. not a priority pick and the AFL decided to award the priority pick the next year which is inconsistant.

Good on the board if this is true - lets hope it's not being funded by Carlton and the $$ are coming from somewhere else.

No its just the priority pick.
Walker was a priority pick.

Some kind of Simon wilson interpretation of what the priority pick actually is...

I want to know.. if thyats the case.. why wasnt it appealed back when...??

But if it comes off... it still doesnt make them mre competent.. just smarter when theyre up against it....

It is my strong belief that the change of rules this year which means a Priority Pick is only available at the end of the First Round rather than at the beginning is in fact a penalty that is nearly as bad as those inflicted on the club by the AFL back on 'Black Friday' 2002.

Our on field performances have been abysmal since 2002 and the fact that we were penalised so severely by not being able to participate in the first two rounds of the draft have severely impacted on our Playing List. Granted in 2005 we were able to gains Picks 1 and 4 in the draft - however the change of rule this year sees the club penalised when we clearly need a new injection of talent most.

We should have at the very least Picks 1 and 3 in this coming National Draft (if not Picks 1 and 2), the fact that we only have access to Picks 1, 17 & 18 (although helpful) is clearly unfair to a club with manifestly the worst list in the AFL. These new rules are in fact defacto penalties administered by the AFL - of whom some members of the administration/commission stated on Black Friday that the penalties handed down were in fact "going easy" on Carlton.

The AFL's decision to rejig the draft rules and to treat Season 2006 as Year Zero as far as calculating Priority Picks is clearly detrimental to the Carlton Football Club - our performances should be counted from at least Seasons 2005 onwards when we started competing on a level playing field with all other clubs once our Draft Penalties were served.

My question is: What is the club doing to address this clearly unjust change in AFL rules? or have we just rolled over on this issue with the promise of financial assistance from the AFL.

We should be making our case to the AFL in the strongest possible terms - and if the AFL reply that changing the rules to this years draft would be "prejudicial" to the draft then we should point out that draft order was changed at the 11th hour in 2002 to penalise us - they can again be changed at the 11th hour to assist us.

Brock McLean - BOG.

What about him.

Maybe we can try get Brock McLean and instead of taking Wells and Goddard ask for draft picks?

Because Collo and the board didn't understand the consequences of losing those picks - like 95% of supporters didn't, they thought it would make us stronger.

Collo wanted an US vs THEM mentality and it worked regarding membership in the short term.

Are you sleeping with Caroline Wilson Synbad ? How else would you be getting all these scopes..

Missed pick 4 in 2003 which we could have got Brock McLean and after his performance tonight in the final, leadership material, hard grunty player like that in the midfield would have been handy as well.

I wouldn't say Goddard is crap, good mark and an excellent kick.

I think you will find Collo was working with the AFL on this and didn't want to spend money the club didn't have on a long court case .

He should of but not many people are prepared to take on current employers

Who cares about what we could have spent it on, let's start thinking about what we can spend it on...

Will they give it to us on top of the PP circa 2006?

ie. 1, 2 (?), 17, 19, 35, etc

!!!!

:D
