I have heard a rumour that Dean Rice is very ill and hope that he gets better soon. My thoughts are with his family.

I'm sure Ricey will be battling any illness with the same determination he showed on the field.

Get well soon, Fella.

One of my favourites due to his determination and the way he got the maximum out of the talent he had. Always friendly and an all round good guy. My best wished to him and his family.

It shits me that a story like this has to be out of our notice because of the morons running the club.

I reckon we get something for Ricey on behalf of Carlton supporters and let him know what a legend we think he is.

Cos he was a legend.!!!

Dean Rice was a fair dinkum trooper on the field. Was so pleased with the service he gave the club.

I'm all for doing anything we can to support him if need be.

I hope Dean is not seriously Ill, but if he is, this is the sort of thing that the club needs to focus on and support him.

As well as helping Dean, it will also send very positive and good energies through the club itself, positively influencing the minds and choices of others, which is exactly what is needed right now.

This is a rumour that has gained legs because of a couple of teenagers from BF.

Juzz,

I really admired Dean not just for the way he played and represented the club and the injuries he overcame but because he seemed to be a very nice person.

I posted that it was a rumour and would hope that if it is not true then someone from here would be able to correct it. Certainly someone from this web site should have a connection at the club or past players who could verify if it is true or not?

Heard it was some sort of a heart attack. Not sure though if that's right.

Hope he gets well soon.

One morning as i was driving to work i fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a parked car... :(

That car belonged to Justin Rice.... That week the Friday night game at the G, against the Tigers Dean Rice did his knee. :( Now some 10 -11 years ago..

I hope Dean Rice is well and gets better super soon.

I wish the whole Rice family well !!!

The last time I saw him was when he used to live in Rowville. He used to come to my dad's milk bar regularly. I rememeber when he retired in 2001 he said that Carlton are going to fall apart next year. Anyway, whats important now that he makes a speedy recovery and wish him and his family all the best

apparently has had some sought of heart trouble, which has lead two a couple of recent heart attacks.

I have read a couple of threads on this and that is where this info comes from.

I played one game of cricket with him about 4 years ago, and he is a great guy.

I wish him all the best.
