Sheldon's first job will be to re-sign Goddard. If we're pursuing him (and we'd be negligent not to be at least making inquiries) then we had better act quickly.

Secretly offer Sheldon the job as our football manager and get him to 'have words' with Goddard...

Let's not imagine that any Carlton player looking for a job at a club is fabualous and should automatically be appointed by the Blues. Sheldon has never been a footy manager and he might be great or he might not. It seems everytime any carlton name comes up we are utterly negligent if we haven't signed them up first. Let's try for the best, if that's bomba, then we've missed out, but i'm not convinced he is the best footy mngr going round.

Exactly. Believe me we are talking about Hansen & Gibbs in the national and Goddard in the preseason. :-D My heart runs 100 miles an hour just thinking how things could change with these two scenarios alone.

These two very decisions will put our club back up where it belongs and respect back in many eyes of the footy world. NO STUFF UP'S.

Your asking this board to act quickly? That's a good one. :-D

I respect your reservations re Carlton People , but i think with Sheldon there need not be too many doubts... He is definately one Carlton Person ( IMO ) who does have creditability and would bring quite a great deal to any football club, what he did for St Kilda as a coach was the turning point for that club...

History will tell and time will reveal. But IMO we dipped out.. I would much rather Sheldon at Carlton in any capacity than SOS as a coach. No disrespect for SOS...

David Parkin spent 15 seasons at Carlton as a Senior Coach and probably coached Carlton for more games than he played for and coached Hawthorn, yet still calls himself a Hawthorn man.

Ken Sheldon - is still and will always be a Carlton man - the fact that he is not employed by Carlton in any capacity is a reflection on the current club rather than a reflection on Ken Sheldon.

Then in 1990, he was appointed coach of the Saints and one year later took the perennial wooden-spooners into their first final series in 20 years. He was axed from the job by St Kilda in 1993.

Would we have picks 1 and 2 or picks 1 and 3 if we were successfull?

Good on them for trying but I'd back the Washington Generals before this board.

If Carlton plan on drafting Sam Sheldon they shouldn't employ Kenny. C.O.I.

Yep and with that type of logic we will stay at the bottom. We need the best available and if they happen to be Carlton then take 'em. Sheldon has more than the runs on the board for this type of role and I would love it if he was senior coach. There would be no matey matey shit becuase he was gone prior to the success that Sticks and Co experienced.

People here harp on about how our board lacks balls and imagination etc etc etc etc etc.

Sheldon is one of the most sucessfull coaches ever at St Blunda outside of Jeans yet senior players didnt like him because its was his way and they had to work to hard. The board at the time got rid of him to satisfy those players knowing they were on the cusp of a premership, perhaps? Yes they had a bit of success but not the ultimate and at the end of the day they failed miserably and ended up shit creek again.

Turn the clock forward and their time is running out again if we are to believe that there is a limited window of opportunity. Their board has had enough of a bloke who has had talent to his eyeballs at his disposal yet no real results. Now they turn to a bloke they scorned in the first place, accepting they were wrong(because to re-employ Kenny in any position leaves them with egg on their faces over past judgements) and are feverently hoping to make the most of their opportunities.

Ken Sheldon will do his utmost to ensure Goddard is resigned becuase any less will look bad on his resume and at the end of the day it doesnt matter if he bleeds blue it matters on delivering results to those who support him financially. If anyone here believes different they are a fool.

We need to use everything we have at our disposal to lure players like Goddard. This kid came into his own this year after a number of years not living up to peoples expectations of a number 1 draft pick. We would kill to have him with us make no mistake about that. Get Sticks, Williams, Doull, SOS, Nicholls and even FEV (yes I used to support StKilda but have seen the light) to play on his (and his mums) emotions ( I never said play fair). God if it took it get Doull, Southby, Mckay, Jezza and Co to take mum out to dinner and promise to make her an official Carlton Saint  .

This is the type of shit that our board and management team need to be doing. Gibbs and co are in the bag at the moment we need to concentrate and areas that are beyond our immediate control and dare to be different.

You're kidding aren't you mark? Kenny has been appointed as footy mngr a job he has no experience at, now you want him as Carlton senior coach based on a couple of ordinary years as coach of St Kilda about 6 years ago. Has he been involved at AFL level since? You have an interesting concept of 'runs on the board'. What runs?

Im not sure it has what it takes to lure Goddard... though in their position they have to leave no stone unturned.. to reclaim any credibility after what they did to their credibility last week....

How they go about the next couyple of months is a huge test for this board ... or theyre really gone!!!... imo

Bad luck on Goddard mate, there is always 2009, though. But by then he will probably be the Saints captain.

You're welcome to him.

Either way he won't be a Premiership player with you guys.

Look!!!.. my info is theyre going to take the AFL on for the lost pick... Nothing under receiving it and stealing Goddard is good enough for these blokes to stay on the board now...

Too late for Goddard now.
