The writing certainly seems on the wall for Mitch, which is a shame. It seems that he has been made the scapegoat. There's not an assistant coach in the league that doesn't have aspirations to be a head coach. He was asked to make a presentation to the board and he did! If Denis can't work with Barry, then how can he possibly work with the majority of the Board.

What certainly strikes me from that interview is the difference between Denis and some of the younger coaches. Denis interviews like he can't get away quick enough. He's not going to step up to the media and sell a vision for the future.

With that in mind, it's imperative that the club had someone as spokesperson who can, whether that be the President, CEO or appointed representative.

I think the photo is very symbolic. Stevo looks a bit out of shape. What a great bunch of leaders on display. Might as well not interviewed the man because he gave nothing like he always does. His analogy with steeple chasing was interesting. More like fallen over and thrown the jock out of the saddle by the triple out the back. Pathetic.

* How would you rate Whitnall as a CHB for the future?
* What did you do in 2006 to accelerate the development of the playing group?
* Before Setanta's run of good games, he was dumped and only saved by illness to Russell. Do you think someone likes Setanta just 'needs to be played'?
* How would you describe Carlton's back-up ruck stocks? Where do Deluca and Bryan fit in to the future?
* For a Club with a young list, what sort of development process do you outline for blooding players in the firsts or seconds?

Agree with steve. If we continue this 'its so hard, pity me but dont pity me' then we'll lose members, support and any short-term perception benefits from picking Gibbs, Sctorumberger and Massoud (#1, #17 and #19). We have to have a big name spruik the club (someone with some pizazz) and talk it up, using a plan and commitments to do certain things, and pump up our tyres. It just sounds like Pagan has accepted the longhaul 'draft picks will save us' without wanting to do anything else to push it along?

It was his usual tripe but not sure what the point of the interview was as DP's responses were tame and cliched at best.
