That is the problem. Clangers are not definitive and also have a subjective element to them.

Anyone here read the Baseball book Moneyball?
Really interesting book on how stats are used in baseball in terms of assessing player worth and their usage (or moreso ignorance of) in drafting and recruiting players.
Something like the clanger count (and in general things like effective long kicks/short kicks - goal assists etc) should be analysed deeper like suggested by other posters.
Maybe clubs already do it but doesn't seem to be showing in stats that the footy fan can access.
