Synbad,

Who should be talking about the list? Pagan?

So if it's Pagan, and he serves the next 2 years as coach (as I think he might , at least coach throughout 2007), then I will have no idea about the list and where its heading. Cliches don't cut it with me.

What would you prefer the president to be doing in the public domain? (other than resigning)

Would a guy like Lenny Hayes have anything to offer the Carlton Football Club aged 26/27?
He is an example i dont want anyone talking about his knee injury.

We all know if theyre good enough and they have something to offer youd look at them and a guy of the calibre of Lenny Hayes or say Jude Bolton youd just scoop up.

So why the bullshit naive comment???

Maybe cos theyre naive and full of shit????

Smorgon is starting to enjoy listening to himself on the radio...

Dangerous situation.

Synbad Smorgan statement yesterday was a polite way of saying we dont want Gardiner or Aker - nothing else

that was a bulldust way to say we dont want him!!!.. you just come out and say Gasrdiner offers the Carlton football club nothing... and we wont be looking at him.. NEXT!!!!

Its just a weak spineless jellyfish way to talk nonsense on the radio for 10 minutes.. by a guy who has no clue!!!...

You dont have to be diplomatic with Gardiner... you just say.. NEXT!!????!?!?!?!??!?!?

So he gets there comes out and rules out Gardiner - then next week it will be Clark Keating then spider Everitt followed by Kent Kingsley the maybe soloman and Jason Johnson . He has reigned in Pagan and sured up all those supporters who were jamming up his server complaining about Gardiner

They wouldn't come in to it as we haven't been linked to any of them.

There have been, as you well know, a few articles now strongly linking Gardiner to Carlton.

All Smorgon had to do was come out and say "The Carlton Football Club isn't interested in Michael Gardiner. We don't wish to add him to our list for 2007 and beyond"

But nah, he had to add in what he said.

Reminded me of Big Brother nominations. They always ramble on and say more than they have to and then they end up running out of time or Big Brother cans them for basically talking shit.

Be clear. Be concise. Be coherent.

Unfortunately, our "president" is unable to do any of the above.

I want the president to conjure up a blueplan like the one Hawthorn have to see themselves into the future without hand outs from the AFL.. compromising the club.

I want the president to be ushering people pressing flesh and unearthing money for the club... to help make it viable .. (thats his role)

What i dont want to see is a president who isnt capable of bringing money into the club... discussing and making decisions on the playing list to the media and niot the football people..

Maybe thats all too logical for you... and it is so logical its confusing you??

Everyone will please conduct their arguments without being condescending towards those they are arguing with.

If you can't mange this, then the moderating team at TC will ask you to go and play at Big Footy...in the nicest possible way of course.

Disagree with you on this Synbad.

In fact I could easily argue you are doing your own spin doctoring on this issue.

Nothing Smorgon has said has ruled out getting someone like Lenny Hayes, not that he will be available.

I'm not a fan of Smorgon, but I'm not going to cream him for everything he says because he's Smorgon. I thought he was clear, concise and coherent. I understood where he was coming from. He's a politician. He didn't really say much. A little cryptic, but not hopeless.

Why he had to say it is another question. That's Pagan's role. and this has now become a circus.

"Gardiner offers the Carlton Football Club nothing". Synbad is that the best you can come up with? It's not what I would consider PC or good PR for the club. If he said that, it would look like a personal attack, and leave us open to his rebuttle which could be more damning.

Synbad, I don't think you like anything he has to say, regardless if he was right or wrong. He is an interim President, and you want to ensure he doesn't get re elected, (or threatens your ticket?). Are you sure he's running for presidency or board at the next agm? Mate, I think you have an agenda, and he's your bunny.

I think there's a bit of politicking going on from Smorgon. I wonder if the "youth policy" is more a message about something else TO someone else and less about Michael Gardiner (but dutifully covering both issues).

I think the squeeze is on, people. Goodbye Pagan, hello modern football.

Agree totally with that PJ, but I reckon the problem is systemic to the club's lack of ability to make a decision. I don't think we've ruled Gardiner out yet, Smorgan just felt he had to respond to the backlash of emails and talkback calls. So he couldn't flatly deny that we'd get Gardiner, just in case we do, but he wanted to reassure the supporters that we were following a due process.

A sign of how ill thought out our approach is at the moment, if my suspicions are correct.

There is nothing wrong with a CLub President issuing a reaffirmation of Board policy on recruiting, particularly given speculation on Gardiner, and possibly others of similar questionable worth. Without specifically mentioning names, which could also be seen as in bad taste.

That fool smorgon has now decided he is the Recruiting Manager, Football Ops Manager, Assistant coach, Senior coach, List manager and Marketing manager. He should just shut his mouth and look after our Sponsors and creating revenue streams and leave the football dept business to those that are employed for that purpose.

Rubbish. Overall policy direction must come from the Board.

I don't remember so many critics of Elliot when he said we don't rebuild.

Listen mate.. alot of people are bunnies...

I do have an agenda.. youre right!!!
My agenda is that Carlton return to being the best club in the the competition.. and yes youre right... i dont like bunnies running my club!!!

The best i could do???

Why????

Smorgons role isnt to talk about the list and who we might or might not get.. the day after Pagan threw his 2c worth... and heading Pagan off ???

Especially after he just came out of a 2 day meeting where they discussed Pagan and told us he is coach for 2 more years!!!

So what is Denis???

is he a coach that is coaching us for 2 years or not??
If he agrees Denis is the coach for the next 24 months why does he feel he has to clarify Denis 24 hours after Denis spoke to the meia about Gardiner???

Why dont you clarify what you believe is Smorgons role at the club and what Pagans role at the club are???

Over to you...

Lets talk about my agenda after that....

What policy direction are we talking about here He has been repeating our youth policy all year . This time it took him 10 minutes to tell us the same thing and made a fool of himself at the same time. The media go after him because they know he has foot in mouth disease and every time he opens his trap to the media he makes our club a laughing stock.

Yes, that policy decision. The media have not gone after him on this. he has not made a fool of himself on this. But you can spin it that way if you wish.

However, 7 pages of bullshit on this topic illustrates how skittish Blues supporters are at the moment.

How old was Everitt when he went to hawthorn, how old was Troy simmonds when he went to the tigers, lockett when he went to the swans, Smorgon has no idea with the media and he should just not comment on these matters unless he has a piece of paper in front of him from our communications dept and then he would stuff that up.

By the way apparently polak wants to come to carlton in the PSD just heard on sen
