Anyday now....

Apparently the window to appeal is open for 6 years?
The legal people here might be able to throw some light on it.
It all boils down to the priority picks legal definition as a pick in the draft.

now i might be wrong about all this... but im pretty sure im right.

This is what it sounds like.

"Oooohhhh I'm really scared what Caro is going to say about us"

"Oooooohhh I'm really scared what Sheahan is going to write about us"

Ooooooohhhh I'm really scared of Patrick Smith's editorial."

Puhlease spare me.

The Carlton of old wouldn't give a @#$%&! - we would just DO IT!!!!

That is part and parcel of being a wooden spoon team. It has happened from day dot, the spooners get the harshest media treatment. The Blues are probably copping an extra few kicks in the ribs from the media for being 'Carlton' (that is to be expected). Different media rules for different positions on the ladder. As supporters we have to learn how to cop it. It is plain to see from the last few weeks that it is something a lot of supporters are having trouble coming to grips with.

Two questions-

1. If Caroline Wilson stumbled across this thread, and saw this rumour about Carlton taking the AFL to court, would she then go off and do some of her own digging and publish an article if she found some corroborating evidence?

2. If we assume Carlton already know they are going to be given a priority pick, would this explain why the club appear to be headed towards 2007 without a ruckman? (ie: perhaps they already know they will have Gibbs and Sellar on their list in 2007)

Did anyone contact Damian Barrett at the Herald Scum?

I predict at least ten pages on BigFooty with the usual suspects calling us cheats again.

Blues' priority chase
Quote:
``We think the AFL should use its discretion to allow Carlton to qualify,'' president Graham Smorgon said.

``Of all the clubs that need it, we are the only ones that that rule could apply to. Having finished down the bottom, we need all the new young draft picks we can get, and we think it appropriate to ask for it.''

Here's an original thought, trade a player for another pick and forget about the priority pick.

Or spend your time finding us some more sponsors, positive press and someone with half a brain to replace yourself and sack a coach you want to get rid of.

Don't like our chances but what's the worst thing that can happen? If we can present a decent case then who knows, we might be biased on here but there are some compelling reasons why we should at least be able to argue a reasonable case. Would be fantastic if it came off!

Balls .....quick more Balls ...... !!!

I don't know anymore how I sit with this. When you first told us of this Synners, I read it as a smoke screen thrown up by the board. All through this thread..... I didn't really give it any credence. BUT ….. You’ve actually said it’s a real possibility!! ….and even if I disagree with some of your posts, you don’t leave yourself open for posting unsubstantiated bullshit!!

So …..Fraser Brown has BIG BALLS . I watched him play for years …… Very big balls!! He’s apparently ruthless in business …..

Then ….. even if this Board attempt fails …… and Brown gets power ……. Next years draft is also supposed to be looking pretty promising ….. you know where I’m going!! It's still inside 6 years!!

I think the board has painted itself into a corner with all this negativity and needs a rabbit out of the hat.

The advice the legal people have given on all this and going to court is never 100%.. is that we will win it if its tested.

So if they have the stomach/ balls / money or whatever to see it through.. they will get that one priority pick back. *should*.

Simon Wilson QC is heading this up....

It would sure be one mighty big rabbit!!

I don't know if a distraction like this is what is needed for the moderates, (like me). This Board/Coach/Contracts situation is getting far too serious for even members like me to try and ride out. Not all Carlton members are radical ….. and smokescreens will work in deflecting issues.

It would be one mighty big friggin’ cloudy rabbit!!

Elliot said a number of years ago he would have fought this decison in court and he believed at the time we would have not had any draft picks taken from us.

Synbad hopefully you are on the money here and we get at least one pick back. It would be nice to play FINALS next year and still get the first pick.

Yes I know, I am a dreamer. It feels good saying the F-word.

Why forget about it???

We should fight damn @#$%&! hard to get it back.

We should be fighting damn @#$%&! hard over a lot of things.

We can't really afford to give ANY players of value away - so the only original thought here is giving the AFL some of its own back - instead of meekly turning up our toes or dropping our trousers.
