Most well run organisations don't need to advertise for positions...they head hunt the right people and the job is done.

Then again, we're just an ordinary club.

Have to pull you up there... Port are advertising for an Assistant Coach in the Herald Sun. An ASSISTANT coach.

I did say "most well run organisations".....but I know what you mean

Yes agreed... we are Carlton and we dont need every Unemployed person looking at this job......we want and need the best.

....and Wangers - the Eagles advertised for an assistant last year; and Collingwood advertised for their high performance coach (Simon Lloyd) as well - so a conditioning coach is fine to advertise for.

Whilst they have advertised this position - I have it on good authority that there is already a small shortlist of names that was formed before Peter Mulkearns' contract was not renewed.

Anyone know what Andrew Phillips is up to these days?

Thanks for that, Doc. Had fallen out of touch with what Flipper was doing nowadays, and the Mulkearns departure brought to mind the very positive reaction he received when performing a similar role at Hawthorn a few years back.

Still, it looks like Andy is otherwise well engaged at the moment, and giving much back to the community in his current role. It would be beneficial to attract someone of his character to the club, though, in any capacity.

Most fitness types will have some tertiary qualifications... Those that were around before University would have AT LEAST a Masters in Exercise Rehab or similar.

I've said it plenty of times now, someone who has proven results in the areas of SPEED and AGILITY is the type of person we want. We've got young blokes who can run all day, but get burnt off the first two steps.

That type of person would bring immediate results. STRENGTH is an area that is built over time, especially core strength (the muscle system that is most used in one-on-one marking contests and congested pack situations).

Whoever gets the position would need to get some resource support... The Doggies might be poor, but their partnership with Victoria University puts them in the box seat here - access to world-class facilities and more importantly, free labour.

Chris Carmichael (Lance Armstrong's coach) might be nice.
