Hopefully he can come out and say what I expected Jimmy Wilsons' article to say this morning - (by the way - Hi Jim - and a warm welcome to TalkingCarlton!)

"We will not be trading the number one pick" are the words I want to hear him say!

So long as he doesn't have that clown Wil Anderson with him I'm sure it will be okay. :P

Cool, should have let me know if he needed somewhere to stay. I might make an extra special effort to try and get along then.

Some more updates/whispers heard on SEN in the last 24 hours...

According to Tony Shebecki last night, Carlton and Thornton are inches away from a deal. However, Greg Denham said this morning that they were still a long way apart.

Apparently Fremantle have told Richmond they want a pick between 18 and 24 for Polack.

Port Adelaide very interested in Jordon Russell.

In regards to Thornton, it better involve pick 6
In regards to Russell, it better involve something of serious value. He was a 1st round pick (no.9 overall). Im not sure what though

It's stacked in favour of Gibbs, nothing more at the moment. :P

High praise for Leuenberger though.

Camp is final part of the puzzle
- interview the players
-medicals
-athletic ability is important, foty ability the key

Re Fantasia comments re Gibbs;
- they can say what they want - CFC will create the environment for a player to want to stay for entire career despite being interstater;

Best player will be selected not a player for a position where we are lacking

Gibbs is best hughes has seen at 17 playing in SANFL -compared him to Wanganeed & Buckley.

KB suggested that Gibbs pace has been question - Hughes said "well he seems to get by - anyone who can kick 6 playing in the centre in SANFL is obviously ok"

Spoke up Leunberger, Gumbleton, Hansen

Question re ready made player or best available -

Hughes attends Match Committee meetings every Monday during the year and all recruiters & MC members have input all year as to the needs of the club. The decision as to what is needed becomes ovious.

more to follow

Father son - will discuss with the families over the coming weeks & let them know what the club is thinking.

Will do whatever they can to support sons of former champs. However F/S must be good enough to justify and they'll do what is best for CFC.
