Brettie from CSC supposedly had quite a lengthy chat with Smorgon...I suppose I don't have any real reason to doubt him.

After 20 or so minutes of chat even Brettie was left feeling positive...which if you know the bugger is quite impressive.... :-D

He said this which is kinda heart warming for me :)

Brettie wrote:
He spoke with utter confidence & composure and I could seriously hear the desire in his voice to get things right at our Club.

"Desire" and "ability" are too completely different things.

George without desire ability means nothing! The coach that led us out of our previous dark period hated bloke with ability and loved those with heart and commitment.

I wouldn't doubt him TBM. He's often had some good info. What surprises me is a direct call from the President - interesting stuff.

Yeah I don't really doubt him.....tis surprising though.....maybe he was one who sent about 200 letters and finally got lucky?

It still puts a bit of a different spin on things for me.......2007 should be a very eventful year :-D

And without any ability, all the desire in the world wil get you nowhere.

Smorgon has shown that he dosen't have the vision, courage, and experience to develop or execute a plan. If he has such strong desire then he should recognise the shortcomings and step down for the club's benefit.

I give up on you people.

I'm thinking of renaming this forum from TalkingCarlton to BaggingCarlton.

For a lot of people the situation has gone beyond words chucky.

People want actions.

People want a change of personnel.

Spot on BC. The guy that posted his Smorgo talk on CSC has been anti Smorgo and has Farser Borwn as the club's saviour. He wrote a very damning letter to the club and got a response from Smorgo that impressed him . I don't know anything about Brettie apasrt from his posts and I'm sure he wouldn't object to be described as totally anti the current board. I think Smorgon's response was impressive. We have a shocking list that will develop into a good list in three years or so and a massive debt that will cripple us for some years. Seriously people here seem to think that ypu just get a new board and everything magically goes back to 1981. I'd rather Pagan not be there but then I wasn't one of the many posters who hailed his arrival as the second coming. I reckon we should have given Britts his final year and assssed our options. We have him now for 2 more years and we will continue to develop. My main criticism is his lack of strategic vision. But given that we are developing I don't think wins/losses matters that much and various players are coming along nicely and will continue to. Fraser Brown saved us in th 99prelim, he ain't going to save us now, his main aim appears to be a job for Ratts who he wants to jump from 2nd div suburban footy to Carlton coach. And if frase gets on the board give him a few weeks and we'll be bitching about him.
03 DP savious 06 pariah, 04 Stevo saviour, 06 tradebait and it goes on.

This part is interesting

- Two new assistant coaches (currently being decided upon by Pagan) will hopefully be announced within the next couple of weeks.

People should channel these feelings into changing their country rather than their footy club.

Too much of a 'good' thing. :?

I've only been an active paticipant on TC this year, and yes, I was shocked to find that there were extremely negative remarks made about my (our) beloved blues on a daily basis. Yes it hurt, and it hurts that some people are too harsh on their club, whilst it's certain individuals they have a gripe with.

But each to their own. I'm not moving, because the tables will turn and the wheels are in motion for a bigger and better Carlton Football club.

Don't give up sticking up for the Blues bluechucky.

We're in a much better situation at the end of 2006 than we were in 2002. It's been 4 years of hell. We will rise from the depths of despair, and I'm sure the tone will change from bagger to bragger in the near future, and we'll be one happy arrogant family once more.

I like it bondi...could be a contender for the 07 slogan...

Carlton 2007 : the bagging stops and the BRAGGING BEGINS!

Is the Brettie who is a member here the same Brettie?

I'd like to see the whole post too, but I'm also not a member at CSC.

I think Brettie's permission is needed first.
