This seems to paraphrase the Hun article and adds some of steve's speech from the other day (!).

Looks like a Carlton Communications article.

The most pleasing thing about these articles is the club is making a conscious effort now to paint a much more positive picture of itself. It may just be positive spin, but it's a vast improvement from what we were reading in the papers a couple of weeks ago.

Yes - I got the impression CC were holding off on trying to refute the press to let the press have their way / let the anger subside. Now, especially with the Gibbs article and the draft camp, I'm sure they are trying to focus on the upside of the upcoming drafts. You should all remember how good CC were with the drafted players early in 2006 - there was good access, lots of press at training sessions, each of the draftees seemed to get at leasat 1 specialist article...(only for 2006 to go awry)...I'm told they're doing the same thing for 2007.

To cap it off I think we need a relatively high profile trade for an early draft pick - that will show the 'way of the future' / youth etc.

What shits me though is a journalist like Mike Sheahan  - who if he calls himself an expert about all things football, and knows the pain and suffering we have been going through since the AFL put us back into the StoneAge in 2002 - now deems it in his power to start talking positively about our Club.

It was easy to put the boots in over the past 4 years Sheahan - but no balance in your articles as to why.

Simple...we bribed them with unfettered access. I dont think Sheahan has been anywhere near as negative as others - after all, he's a soft touch populist. Exactly what we needed.

Can I ask about the finance plan - I thought 2006 was the last year of the initial 3 year plan; the article states we're at the end of Year 1 of a 3 year plan. I gather this is a new 3 year plan or are we just agreeing to forget 2005 and 2006 from history?

I honestly think that if the Board had have been taking such an approach for the last three years then they would not be under the pump. Its a shame that the threat of a Board challenge has been required to bring it on, but hopefully it does signal the start of a more PR focused club in the future.

It would've been hard to live up to the positivity though, after successive spoons. I think it's a good time to start now.

They are certaintly getting value out of their PR firm. Whether it is good, bad or indifferent the club needs to be seen and heard. We may be down but they should all be wary. I LOOOOOOVVVEEEE reading about the CFC

You reckon they've got a PR firm Bluehotel?

If that's the calibre of material and spin they can do I'm putting my company up for consideration - and I specialise in industrials.

Pfft. The only reason this even 'looks' good is because of how bad the board etc have actually been with PR etc in the past.

A fluff piece by the king of fluff, Mike Sheahan.
