Brettie from CSC supposedly had quite a lengthy chat with Smorgon...I suppose I don't have any real reason to doubt him.

After 20 or so minutes of chat even Brettie was left feeling positive...which if you know the bugger is quite impressive....

 That's not terribly nice.

If the palyers don't want to play for Denis and therefore by extension the CFC and ultimately us then they can piss off and cry in two year when the finals become a regular occurance again.

Boy you have alot of faith us playing finals in 2 years, unless we bag a good Full Back not contracted and have someone fill CHB,i doubt it,we just added another 3 years on that. That statement we are in a 1 year of 3 promotion is 1 in 5 or 6 now.

1 player doesn't make a team. Just beware of Carlos, Bower, Hartlett after another pre-season behind them. Bower is a very similar type to what position Thornton would of ended up as anyway.

This draft will bring us a player for every positional weekness on our list. 6 picks in top 40 (4 in top 20) will see to that.

The above players are good options in the future - but none of them are capable of doing what Thornton has for another couple of years. 1 player doesn't make a team but this player has made our defence (albeit an average one). We have guaranteed ourselves another spoon.

Correct,Bowyer still got a couple of seasons yet to make it in the 22 each week and Ohalipan will take as long to become a good player, while Harlett hasn't done nothing yet in 2 years, but has been injured, but some people on this site thinks he can't kick well,so thats a bad sign. It's not about 1 person, but a key position player,he could have been CHB while Bowyer full back, now we have to groom someone for it for another 4-5 years.

Bower is not Zac Dawson. Bowers's got more natural physical core strength. It doesn't matter if he has he has up and down games in 2007. So far his record speaks for itself against Collingwood and Swans. He's proven he can have good games.

He's better than Thornton was at the same age, and has a stronger core strength than Thornton. Don't forget that Thornton was thrown to the FB to replace a failed Livo experiment at the age of 19, and that's what Bower is now.

Don't underestimate the 2005 pick #20 in Bower; AA U18 CHB. He's proven that he's already made for us. He fits in nicely at FB or CHB, BP or HB. He's a gem. He'll have more ups than downs with an improved midfield.

FB Carrazzo/ Scotland Bower Hartlett/ Kouta

FF: Whitnall/Hartlett Fevola Betts/ Lappin

Bower's out of contract at the end of 2007. He's a WA boy and I don't think there's room for him in the two young WA teams, if he was to go back easily in 2008, so he's got a lot to prove, to make his AFL career. It all works in his and Carlton's favour.

He's not a boy any more. He's a Carlton man.
