"Carlton legend and full-back of the century Stephen Silvagni, a close friend of Lyon's from Carlton days, is almost certain to join the Saints as part of a new match committee."

Article also confirms Lyon as Saints new coach - go figure.

Oh well, better than us giving him a job just because he was a great player.

Missed the boat on Brad Scot... Dunno whether he is any good, but I'm not liking the fact that we aren't being very aggressive in the coaching merry-go-round...

Blind faith can only go so far.

He was an assistant at Carlton - was VFL coach during Waite's VFL year, he blossomed the following year - since then he hasn't been the same - due, partly, IMHO to Lyon not being around. There were comments around here that Lyon was well liked and respected by the players.

Has helped Sydney to 2 GF's...we had our chance people...

He was a very good coach for us. He got the 2nds into finals with not much talent. I have been impressed with the way he spoke as a coach.

Was highly regarded and well spoken of - that's two we have let go of, Worsfold & Lyon.

Players loved Lyon as he was great with developing the kids.

A good learning experience for SOS - I'm glad he may go there as I don't think Carlton was the place to learn his craft.

This is only a personal observation. Ross Lyon and Barry Mitchell were assistants together. I wonder whether Lyon will approach Mitch as well.

Hope SOS picks up some nice stuff to bring back in a couple of years. Although I think there would have to be a few changes to tempt him by then...

He'll be back. He can only disappoint his boys for so long before they drag him back home.

The ability to string a coherent sentence together that acutally makes a point would be good. Unlike his special comments role on Channel 10.
