With the pending board meeting next week, Michael Malouf could find himself unemployed, who is in on the short list to take over?

If Malouf is fired has the club been headhunting likely prospects for the position?

How much blame can be thrown the direction of the CEO for the constant issues the club has had this year?

- Ian Collins - CEO of TelstraDome
- Stephen Gough - CEO of the MCG/MCC
- James Sutherland (CFO of Carlton now CEO of ACB)


If I was James Sutherland and I was the current CEO of the ACB - I wouldnt be looking at adding CEO of Carlton to my CV to further my career.

He would be good no question but I think as CEO of the MCC - there would be conflict of interest issues. People whinged long and loud about Collo's conflict of interest - it would be almost identical in this instance.

If James Sutherland steps foot inside Carlton Football Club again I would seriously consider taking a sabbatical from the Blues. That would just about end it for me...I'd move to the Gold Coast and only come back when he left...by which time I would hope that the club still existed, but would doubt it.

I'd enquire about David Knott. Former ASIC Chair..Carlton Supporter and joined the board of Mayne a few years ago...not sure if he's still doing that role - but a proven leader with a lot of business acumen and integrity.

Incompetent...surrounds himself with smart, good, hard working people, has got to where he is only due to nepotism...sits in meetings and doodles...doesn't exactly 'get' it. His last short lived stint at the club was hardly brilliant...quite the opposite.

Rumour has it - I've never been able to confirm this; but it came from a pretty good source in the Qantas Club Lounge - that he went on a trip to New York and Malcolm Speed (now head of ICC) hooked him up to attend a Yankees game and meet Brian Cashman (Gm and Snr.VP) and Lonn Trost (COO) of the Yankees. After meeting with him and talking to him over a few club sandwiches in a superbox they departed and asked security to recheck his ID and credentials as they thought that a guy who was CEO of Cricket Australia could not be as clueless and naive as Sutherland.

When he was appointed as CA CEO this was part of the media release...

He 'alledgedly' was - and he walked off scott free and into one of the 'cushiest', well regarded CEO jobs in the country.
