My dishwasher repairman came over yesterday - well, to fix my dishwasher. He is a Carlton member and has spoken to a certain player who is high profile, and who is linked to his original home town. I know the players name but I won't disclose it at this point, for what it is worth.

However, this particular player stated that he appreciated the opportunity that DP had given him but he acknowledged that 50% of the player group didn't appreciate him. (That is extremely high in my opinion.) This particular player could clearly understand what these players were feeling as well, therefore beingng critical of DP and his modus operandi.

You want my humble opinion? I was a supporter of DP up until about 2 weeks ago from the time of his appointment. But my attitude is changing as I see things dissolve before my eyes. Bret Thornton is a quality person, from my understanding. He would not want to leave for personal reasons if it wasn't for the good reason. I think he is represenatative of a wider opinion at the club.

The sooner we resolve the issue of the coach through an EGM, the better.

Oh yeah, my dream! I dreamt Bret would eventuually stay after much consideration and soul searching - to cut a longer dream short.

Farewell, TC'ers

Yet The Ox on this site has posted quite clearly that his sources direct from Thorntons family, say Thornton has nothing against Denis Pagan.

Quality people don't shit in the face of the club that has spoon fed them into a life of luxury.

Perhaps Thornton doesn't personally have anything against Pagan, but can't stand the culture where half the team aren't playing for the coach.

Thornton knows very little but Denis Pagan.
He knows Denis has given him an opportunityand he plays AFL football.

But like everyone else on the list i doubt he is enjoying his football.

The morale is very low in the playing group and that rubs off on everyone.

Can you now get the cemented weet-bix of your plates?

I think the Tbird story is generally providing good fodder for the masses in what seems to be, so far, a pretty uneventful exchange period.

In the fullness of time, yada, yada … my own feeling is Tbird will stay. No inside scoops or any claims of merit thereof, I just reckon much of this a rap burgler, false media. We don't need it do we? It's fake that's what it be to 'ya, dig me? Don't believe the hype.

Dean Laidley said on SEN last night that the Kangas had been asked by some managers if they would select their player in the PSD if they were in it. Laidley said they were cashed up and prepared to take whoever was there.

Nice one Junk Yard - more food for thought for TBird

My vibe is that Thornton will not get traded and stay.

One thing that might influence Brett after 2pm on Friday is that should he make up his mind to stay and not go into the psd, he would be giving his club the chance of perhaps getting a player instead of just picking him up again.

Secondly, he needs to realise that we will have a whole new bunch of young players after the national draft.

Finally he needs to be aware that there may well be a new board and possibly a new coach before too long - its quite likely that a changed environment at Carlton may soon resolve many of the issues that worry him at present.

It really is so important to not just look at the immediate circumstances of a situation, but to also consider the wider effects of a changing environment.

After all, in a future season, that is not all that far away, wouldnt it be a tragic thing for a certain Hawthorn player called Thornton to see the club that he once called home defeat the Hawks and put them out of the finals.
